Job Description
Job Summary
The Admissions Counselor builds enrollment by recruiting, managing, and enrolling the prospective students within a given recruitment territory or degree program. This role actively recruits students to Southwestern Seminary and Texas Baptist College by guiding applicants through the admissions process, providing them with essential information about academic programs, financial aid, and campus life within a religious context.?
Key Responsibilities
Serves as a representative of Southwestern Seminary and Texas Baptist College and its Admissions Office.Serves as the primary point of contact for prospective students, families, and external stakeholders, providing clear and timely information regarding admission requirements and procedures.Cultivates relationships with prospective students and provides personalized counseling regarding academic offerings, financial aid options, student life, and religious values that underpin Southwestern's philosophy.Manages over 500+ applicants over the course of the recruitment cycle and leads applicants through all phases of the enrollment process leading to full time residential enrollment at the Fort Worth campus.Collaborates with the admissions team to make informed decisions in assessing and evaluating applications.Develops strategic recruitment initiatives aimed at accomplishing recruitment objectives including, but not limited to attending events, meetings with students, and collecting prospective student contact informationAnnually hosts 300+ prospective students and families for campus visits and conducts informational sessions, campus tours, and outreach events to promote the institution's programs and values.Assists in Admissions recruitment campaigns by completing at least 1,000+ phone calls and delivering, managing, or responding to more than 2,500+ texts in a recruitment cycle.Networks with global ministry leaders, local churches, high schools, and partner organizations to expand awareness for SWBTS/TBC.Executes at least 4 (four) recruitment trips each semester, including but not limited to, college fairs, high school visits, conferences, state conventions, youth gatherings, etc., often including overnight stays.Maintains accurate records of prospective student interactions and prepares regular reports on recruitment metrics.Work closely with faculty, staff, and administration to ensure that prospective students receive comprehensive support throughout their admissions journey.Demonstrates commitment to personal and professional growth in leadership and ministry effectiveness.Handles sensitive and confidential information with discretion.Performs other related duties as assigned and specific to area of responsibility.
Supervisor / Leadership Responsibilities
Admissions Counselors will oversee 1 (one) part-time team member with the purpose of achieving effective territory recruitment.
Specific Skills and Qualifications
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, education, human services, social work, or related field and/or three years of leadership experience or a combination of education and experience is required. A master's degree in higher education administration, student personnel, student development, or related field is preferred. Current enrollment at SWBTS or TBC is preferred.Experience in enrollment management, recruiting, office coordination, program management preferred.Fluency in bilingual speaking abilities (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Mandarin) is required.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.Strong work ethic and initiative; ability to operate with minimal supervision.Exemplary social skills with an ability to be a part of and contribute to a collaborative team, manage conflicts, and demonstrate love and appreciation for cross-cultural interaction.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly and simply articulate the value propositions of SWBTS, its degree programs, and the specific requirements for completing the application process.Proficiency in admission-related technologies (Microsoft Office); previous experience with data management software (CRM databases) preferred.Evening and weekend work is required during large-scale events and peak Admission seasons.Ability to provide proof of Work Authorization in the U.S. and proof of identity.Successful completion of background check, MVR, and credit check may be required.Requires seminary driving of golf carts or licensed vehicles which require a valid driver's license and successful clearance of Motor Vehicle Report (Driving Record).
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
Office Environment – May be required to reach above shoulder level for organizational tasks (e.g., retrieving files from upper shelves), bend, stoop, or reach to access lower or upper shelves.Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and move about to the office to interact with other staff members.Ability to use a computer and near-visual acuity in reading written documents and statistical data.Exchanges information by telephone, computer, in writing and in person.Ability to traverse campus for meetings and talk to groups while doing so.Moderate Lifting – Occasionally transports 20-30lbs of parts and equipment across short distances by various means (e.g., carrying by hand, cart, golf cart) to accomplish tasks.Ability to withstand the heat and cold of the north Texas climate.
