Job Overview

The assistant pastor will assist the lead pastor in leading, teaching, shepherding Cornerstone Community Church as well as outreach into our community.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Example (Described in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1)

1.Grow in relationship with God. Develop Christ-like character. 2.Be a godly and loving father, husband, and neighbor.

Teacher (1 Tim. 3:2 "able to teach" Tit. 1:9 "encourage others by sound doctrine")

1.Study, write and preach sermons (twice a month.) 2.Teach weekly Bible study. 3.Assist with Sunday church service (prayer, announcements, greeting, etc.)

Shepherd (1 Peter 5: 1-4 "Be shepherds of God's flock...")

1.Foster loving church community (assist with social activities, etc.) 2.Individual care (counsel, visits, follow-up, etc.)

Administrator (1 Tim. 5:17 "The elders who direct the affairs of the church..."

1.Attend weekly staff meeting. 2.Assist lead pastor with administrative responsibilities. 3.Officiate baptisms, communion, child dedications, funerals, weddings.

Evangelist (Book of Acts – elders very involved in evangelism.)

1.Help lead bi-annual Family Night outreaches. 2.Assist with annual neighborhood outreaches. 3.Build bridges with our recovery ministry or food cupboard clients.
