Assistant Pastor of Family & Youth
The Assistant Pastor of Family and Youth at First Baptist Church of Welcome, NC(FBCW) provides spiritual leadership for our Families including our childrenministry (KidMin) all the way through College. The Assistant Pastor of Family andYouth will work with our KidMin directors to provide stability and ensure continuitybetween KidMin and youth. The Assistant Pastor of Family and Youth works withadult volunteers and students from 6th to 12th grade in submission to the Lead Pastor,to accomplish the Mission, Values, and Ministry Strategy of First Baptist Church ofWelcome. Other responsibilities include overseeing our onsite learning center andbeing liaison between learning center director and relevant FBCW committees.
EDUCATION• Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent.• Certificate program, Bible college, or Seminary training preferred.
QUALIFICATIONSGeneral• Be a born-again believer in Christ called to pastoral ministry.• Maintains a consistent prayer life and discipleship relationships.• Agrees in principle with doctrines accordance with the Baptist Faith &Message 2000.• Possesses strong communication skills in the classroom and on the platform.• Must be able to work independently in accordance with the strategy of thechurch.• Must be able to lead, coordinate, and train a team of volunteers.• Able to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.• Maintain a flexible and godly disposition in every arena.• Provide a thorough credit check and undergo a drug test.• Provide full disclosure on any criminal history and submit to a criminal historybackground check.
Youth Ministry• Lead various levels of discipleship.
• Recruits and equips parents and students for ministry.• Able to teach and preach to various levels.• Be familiar with communications platforms to reach students.• Able to submit a video of themselves teaching or preaching.
Pastoral ResponsibilitiesPastors and performs duties specifically to those in the church (i.e., hospital visits,phone calls, visits, etc.) and other duties as assigned by the Associate Pastor.Submits to the direct supervision of the Associate Pastor and works in cooperationwith the entire staff.Meets weekly with pastoral staff to discuss service themes and other elements to beincluded within the gatherings.Fosters a community of cooperation and excellence in all aspects of the ministries ofFBC Welcome.
KidMin ResponsibilitiesPastor and equip KidMin directors to foster unity across KidMin and youth ministriesSupporting and equipping lay leaders as they minister to infants and children onSundays, Wednesdays and throughout the weekProvide pastoral care to children and their families
Youth ResponsibilitiesSCOPE: Disciples FBCW youth and their families to know Christ and integrate theminto the life of the church through evangelism, relationships, and gatherings.Create and maintain relationships with students and their parents to assist them indiscipleship efforts.Teach, plan, and oversee the student programs on Sundays and Wednesdays.Recruit and equip parents and other volunteers for the work of ministry.Establish and uphold regular communication with youth and parents concerningupcoming events and ministry opportunities.Lead, plan, and oversee conferences, camps, and missions opportunities forstudents.Integrate students into other church ministries.
Administrative Responsibilities
Participates in the preparation of the church's annual budget relative toexpenditures involved in the areas of ministry that come under his supervision andsees to it that expenditures are kept within the accepted budget.Oversee the organization, policies, procedures, facilities, and equipment related to allareas of responsibility.Assist in the enlistment, training and guidance of leaders.
