Valley Hope Church is an Evangelical Presbyterian Church in the Asheville, NC area. We are a growing church with many young families who desire our neighbors, co-workers, and friends to find their seat at Jesus’ table. We desire to be a multiplying church of transformed disciples who together cultivate communities that offer the life-changing hope of Jesus. This person will help in two areas: 1. Overseeing and managing the operational needs of church systems to better coordinate and facilitate church ministries in a cohesive whole. 2. Working to provide pastoral leadership for students and adults. This can include oversight of other part-time staff and development of discipleship ministries amongst men and women. This is a growing church and staff, so staff learn to be flexible to adapt and help one another, as well as grow into developing areas of need.
Job Description
This pastoral role will assist in preaching and care of soul for the people of Valley Hope. Specific operational duties will require administrative and executive abilities skills to ensure that the church’s work is cohesive and integrated. Leadership of student ministry is more about the leadership of part-time staff and serious volunteers, rather than a program looking for a dedicated “youth pastor.” Similarly, potential new areas of adult ministry is more about equipping members rather than program creation.
A person ordained, able to be ordained, or moving towards ordination in the EPC is preferred. If a candidate might consider themselves to be a good fit but is not yet able to be ordained, we would be happy to adapt this role for that candidate to work in a ministry role under pastoral direction.
