Heber Springs Baptist Church of Heber Springs, Arkansas, is growing and excited for our future as we continue to be a biblical, healthy, vibrant, and growing church. Now, about the position and areas of emphasis:

Spiritual A Christian who demonstrates the fruits of the Spirit, is growing in faith, and is committed to Bible study and prayer. Meet the biblical qualifications of pastor set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-3. Have a commitment to moral purity. A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing personal relationship with Him expressed by ongoing spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, personal worship, fasting, confession, and fellowship. One who shares his faith regularly. One who promotes church growth through outreach, evangelism, and personal invitations. If married, one who leads his household well. Having his wife and children in submission in accordance with 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and Ephesians 5:22-24.

Professional A leader should possess a desire to lead well. A leader should strive to lead in all areas of their life. No matter how experienced or inexperienced a leader is, ongoing education is critical to continual growth as a leader. If a leader is not growing, he is regressing. Ongoing education could include, but is not limited to, educational Christian books and/or materials. Ongoing education does not necessarily mean school or college. Promote the unity, direction, and vision of the church by participating in staff and leadership meetings.

Personal Have a love and dedication for spiritual growth. Personal sense of calling from God into ministry. Strong leadership skills. Faithfully support the church financially through tithes and offerings. Positive attitude.

Qualifications A converted Christian who meets the biblical criteria in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9 . Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably ministry related. Organized, prepared, punctual, proactive, self-starter with a positive attitude. Thrives within a team environment, with the pastoral staff, the deacons, the church staff, the personnel team, and the church volunteers. Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision; flexible to changes in procedures and/or direction. Demonstrates strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Proficient in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and relevant job-related software such as AV, multimedia, and presentation tools, with familiarity in using social media platforms as tools for student ministry.

Specific Responsibilities Provide vision and leadership for the student ministry, grades 6 through 12. Be under the oversight of the Lead Pastor. Lead the Sunday School and Wednesday Night Bible Study, working with the Lead Pastor to choose and develop appropriate curriculum. Attend scheduled staff meetings and deacon meetings. Preach occasionally in coordination with the Lead Pastor. Adhere to the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 and the HSBC Constitution and Bylaws. Direct the recruitment, training, and development of student department volunteers. Set, attain, evaluate, and modify short-term and long-term goals to grow the student department. Work collaboratively with the leadership to establish dates for student activities and events, ensuring that all programs are well-planned, properly supported, and executed in a seamless manner. Provide leadership in planning and guiding activities and programs that foster the spiritual growth and discipleship of students within the church. Must be willing and able to teach students, with a commitment to studying and preparing Bible, text-driven sermons for students on a weekly basis. Invest and engage relationally with students while fostering an environment where they feel connected as a church family, valued, and celebrated. Educate, encourage, and facilitate students to participate in evangelical and missional outreach. Be present and participate in outreach programs of the church. Seek to integrate student ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries. Ensure safe and healthy classroom and small group environments while leading the creative use and proactive upkeep of student ministry spaces. Communicate regularly with parents. Create and manage a student ministry calendar to include weekend events/retreats and Camp. Coordinate and implement an annual student ministry budget proposal and administer that budget as approved by the Finance Team. Welcome feedback from church members and be transparent in all actions.
