Kids Ministry Associate Director

Purpose: To contribute to FBG's mission to be a Ready Church by nurturing faith development in children at FBG through excellent discipleship programs and partnership with parents.

Principal Function: The Kids Ministry Associate Director will assist in providing leadership and supervision in all areas of kids ministry at FBG including Sunday & Wednesday ministries, summer programming, special events, and spiritual support for parents.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • A maturing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Able to teach the Gospel and expound upon biblical truths with children and their parents.
  • Ability and passion to disciple children and parents and to lead teams of volunteers.
  • Sufficient knowledge, skills, and experience to provide oversight for kids programming for 100+ children.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, but also able to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to make sound decisions in stressful situations.
  • Proficient in social media, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and multimedia platforms.
  • Motivated, self-disciplined, and skilled in organization and administration.

Basic Responsibilities:

Weekly Programs

  • Help coordinate and plan weekly discipleship programming for children (birth-5th grade), ensuring appropriate child-to-adult ratios.
  • Prepare and distribute program material and coordinate volunteer teams.
  • Effectively communicate with parents and volunteers in relation to our programs.
  • Teach weekly Bible studies for preteen groups in the summer.

Special Events

  • Plan fun and relevant special events for kids ministry participants and their parents.
  • Evaluate all kids ministry events and build volunteer teams for event planning.
  • Work in partnership with the Kids Pastor to ensure events help reach ministry goals.

Leadership Pipeline

  • Assist in recruiting and developing leaders for the kids ministry by identifying potential volunteers and providing initial training and orientation.
  • Guide new and existing leaders through our Leadership Pipeline, ensuring continuous growth and development through regular training, support, and feedback.
  • Regularly pray for, support, and encourage our volunteer leaders.

Communication

  • Develop and deliver informative messages about kids ministry events through email, phone calls, mail-outs, and other creative channels.
  • Proactively follow-up with families who visit kids ministry for the first time.
  • Contribute to a welcoming and informative environment for families by keeping communication channels flowing.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Become a member of FBG and faithfully attend corporate worship services.
  • Assist Kids Pastor in assessing safety and security issues for ministry to birth–5th graders.
  • Exhibiting a spirit of teamwork and cooperation with all FBG staff.
  • Additional duties as deemed necessary by the Kids Pastor.
