Job Overview
Community Bible Church of Savannah (GA) is seeking a biblically qualified pastor with a passion for discipling in the context of the local church. All applicants should have a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and exhibit a meaningful and growing personal relationship with him that models the biblical standards of personal conduct and lifestyle. A qualified candidate should model a life committed to following Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and living on mission with Jesus.
As all pastors at CBC are expected to intentionally aspire to adorn the gospel in their own lives, thus serving as an example to the church, all applicants should model and be growing in gospel-centered virtues of humility, joy, encouragement, gratefulness, and generosity.
The Associate Discipleship Pastor will partner with the Discipleship Pastor and Connections Director to fulfill the vision and the mission of CBC Savannah. As a member of the Adult Discipleship Team this pastor will:
- Provide direct pastoral oversight of CBC Community Groups by shepherding group leaders and members and cultivating biblical community;
- Assist pastorally in CBC training classes by developing curricula, teaching, equipping teachers, and promoting these classes to the church;
- Work alongside the CBC Connections ministry to create an environment that welcomes guests and provides clear steps toward connection and spiritual growth;
- Assist the Discipleship Pastor in shepherding and administration of our Start Here, Membership, and Baptism processes.
Community Bible Church of Savannah is a non-denominational church located in Georgia's Coastal Plain region with an average attendance of approximately 1,350. Job Description
Role and Responsibilities as A pastor at CBC
All pastors at CBC will join with the Senior Pastor and other Pastors to serve the CBC Community in a variety of ways. Specific responsibilities will depend on that person's unique gifts and skills. All pastors are expected to:
- Be actively involved in teaching, general/premarital/marital counseling and making disciples.
- Lead and teach regularly: including studies, courses, classes and meetings.
- Participate in pastoral care counseling.
- Officiate weddings, funerals.
- Participate in connecting with current members and new people and guide them into biblical community.
- Work with other pastors on staff management, shepherding, training and strategic planning & goal setting.
- Participate in membership and baptism meetings.
- Attend conferences, conventions or seminars that would provide personal growth in gifts and skills.
Associate Discipleship Pastor Responsibilities
- Community Groups: Provide direct pastoral oversight of CBC's Community Groups. Shepherd group leaders and members, cultivate biblical community, and lead the implementation of CBC's vision for community groups. Oversee administration and curriculum, equip and train leaders, recruit and develop new leaders, and guide group multiplication.
- Adult Discipleship Team: Participate as a member of the Adult Discipleship Team to cultivate both a discipleship framework and culture by modeling, championing, and curating contexts for spiritual formation.
- Training: Assist pastorally in CBC Training classes by developing curricula, equipping teachers, and promoting to the church.
- Connections: Work alongside the CBC Connections ministry to create an environment that welcomes guests and provides clear steps toward connection and spiritual growth.
- Assist Discipleship Pastor in shepherding and administration of our Start Here, Membership, and Baptism processes.
Requirements as a Staff member of CBC:
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and exhibit a meaningful and growing personal relationship with him that models the biblical standards of personal conduct and lifestyle.
- Maintain an authentic walk with Jesus Christ through the ongoing spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, personal worship, fasting, confession of sin, fellowship and serving.
- Be an active member of CBC, growing in community with other believers.
- Support and adheres to the mission, core values, and church distinctives of CBC of Savannah, including the CBC of Savannah Statement of Faith.
- Attend and participate in all weekly staff meetings/worship gatherings.
