Associate Pastor
Job Overview
We are seeking a committed Associate Pastor to join our reformed, credo-baptist church within the Bible Fellowship Church denomination. The Associate Pastor will work closely with the Lead Pastor, learning and gradually taking on key pastoral responsibilities. The ideal candidate should exhibit a deep commitment to the BFC Articles of Faith, strong leadership skills, a passion for the Word of God, and a service heart for the congregation.
Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
Assimilation:
- Work with the chairman of the Welcome Committee to connect with those new to the church.
- Responsible for first impressions, and integration of those new to Calvary, developing a plan to plug them into the life of the church.
- Work with the other pastors to ensure they are aware of the needs, passions, and interests of new attendees.
Preaching & Teaching
- As opportunities and needs arise, be willing to teach a class or lead a group.
- As assigned by the Lead Pastor, participate in the preaching ministry of the church.
- As assigned by the Lead Pastor, participate in the regular Sunday worship services as well as any other special services held during the year. Such as announcements, prayers, leading communion, etc.
Adult Ministries:
- Oversee the various adult ministries, being aware of (and approving as necessary) curriculum choices and teachers/leaders, ensuring that they comply with our church’s beliefs.
- Maintain contact with those involved in leading or teaching, providing help where needed.
- Oversee the Connect Group ministry and visit each group regularly, providing training for group leaders as needed through sharing resources, articles, etc. that will aid them in leading their group.
- Work with the Communications Director to promote adult ministries within the church.
- Maintain an awareness of small group Bible Study materials.
Miscellaneous:
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Participate in general pastoral duties and care as needed (hospital/home visits, weddings, funerals, counseling, etc.)
- Manage specific church projects and events as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
- Attend Elder meetings as requested.
- Reports directly to the Lead Pastor.
- Maintain great communication with other members of the Pastoral staff, Board of Elders, and support staff.
- Work alongside church staff and volunteers, fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Meets the characteristics and qualifications of an Elder as defined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-11.
- Agreement with BFC Articles of Faith and reformed doctrinal theology (can be found at BFC.org).
- Able to be ordained inside of the Bible Fellowship Church (the BFC requires 3 years of Theological training or approved equivalent).
- Has a shepherd’s passion to relate to others.
- Respected by nonbelievers.
- Displays strong leadership skills.
- Displays strong administrative skills.
- Displays strong interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and approachable personality.
- Must demonstrate ability in preaching and teaching.
- Displays strong written and oral communication skills.
- A Theological degree is preferred.
- 2 or more years of pastoral experience is preferred.
HOURS AND BENEFITS
This position will be classified as a full-time employee. Benefits offered will be consistent with our current policy for insurance, paid time off, and holidays. This is a minimum 40-hour-per-week position. Salary based on experience/education. References by request.
