Associate Pastor Job Description (Crest Baptist)
Crest Baptist is looking for an Associate Pastor to direct and administrate our worship & small group
ministries. Our first priority is finding someone with a heart for God's kingdom and our ministry's role within
that mission.
The following are areas for which we're seeking pastoral leadership/administration. Our goal is
primarily to find a candidate who is a good philosophical/cultural fit for our church and community we
would certainly be interested in exploring other strengths & passions in the right candidate.
Worship Ministry
Planning services
Scheduling volunteers
Directing worship team during rehearsal
Vocal/instrumental ability a plus, but not essential
Additional Areas of Ministry
In addition to worship ministry, this position would be responsible for other ministries depending on the
gifting/passions of the candidate and needs identified by the Lead Pastor & church leadership. Other
potential areas of ministry may include:
Administration/development of small groups & small group leaders
Youth/children/family ministry
Church administration
Deacon ministry
Qualifications
A heart for disciple-making, both in groups & one-on-one
Ministry experience and/or theological education (at least a bachelor's degree)
Affirm & operate by the Baptist Faith & Message
About Us:
Crest is located in Creston, IA, a community of about 8,000 people that sits about 60 miles from Des Moines
and 100 from Omaha, NE. Creston is the largest city between Des Moines and Council Bluffs and serves as
something of a regional hub for southwest Iowa. Crest has a weekly attendance of 150-180 and shares
facilities with a K-8th Christian school. Neal McRae, our current Lead Pastor, has just recently taken on that
role after serving as Associate Pastor for 6 years.
