POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Associate Pastor will support the Lead Pastor in cultivating a disciple-making culture and will oversee the leaders of all Equip ministries including Kids, Youth, Young Adults, Community Life, and Stewardship. This includes supporting, developing, and executing discipleship strategies, ensuring curriculum consistency, and fostering intergenerational ministry across campuses. This position plays a vital role in raising up leaders aligned with Cuyahoga Valley Church's vision and may also serve on the preaching team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ministry Leadership (40%):

• Provide spiritual and organizational leadership for Equip ministry leaders, offering guidance and support to enhance individual and ministry effectiveness.
• Ensure alignment with CVC's mission and passions, while also assisting leaders in raising up new leaders.
• Assist the Lead Pastor with execution of strategic leadership and provide oversight for all discipleship ministries.
• Develop and implement discipleship programs and strategies as directed by Lead Pastor.
• Coordinate with staff and volunteers to ensure cohesive and impactful ministry efforts.
• Regularly evaluate and provide feedback to improve discipleship initiatives, adapting to the needs of the congregation and community.

Preaching and Teaching (25%):

• Become a key part of our preaching rotation, regularly delivering sermons during Sunday services to ensure a seamless and engaging experience for the congregation.
• Serve and collaborate with the teaching team in planning and developing Sunday services.
• Regularly teach and train across various venues and age groups.
• Provide support to the Lead Pastor in various teaching and preaching capacities, maintaining a consistent and unified message.

Execute Strategy (20%):

• Provide leadership to CVC congregation by supporting the established programs and strategies of Invite, Equip, and Send, as set by the Lead Pastor.
  • INVITE – Ensure ministry teams create engaging and inviting environments that attract and integrate new attendees across all age groups.
  • SEND – Assist ministry leaders in equipping identified individuals for service within the church and beyond, including local, regional, and global missions.

Pastoral Care (10%):

• Help provide counseling, visit members in need, and support during personal crises, ensuring ongoing ministry to homebound members.

Conduct Ceremonies (<5%):

• Assist in conducting weddings, funerals, Lord's Supper, and baptisms according to the church's doctrinal commitments.
