FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF INVERNESS, FL ASSOCIATE PASTOR Job Description Function: The Associate Pastor is responsible for assisting the Senior Pastor in leading the church to function as a Southern Baptist Church. He will assist in leading the congregation, the church organizations and ministries, and the church staff in the performance of their assigned duties. He will work with the Senior Pastor, deacons and church staff to: 1. Lead the church in the achievement of its mission, 2. Proclaim the gospel, administer the church ordinances and exercise watch-care over the spiritual life of the church, 3. Minister to the church members and other persons in the community including visitation, weddings, funerals, etc.
All of the above is under the direction of the Senior Pastor. The Senior Pastor will give specific direction to the Associate Pastor as to his areas of direct responsibilities. Qualifications: Qualifications of all pastors are found in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. The pastor must be an ordained minister of the gospel and he is required to have a four year degree in Theology , (masters degree preferred) from an accredited seminary approved by the Southern Baptist Convention or one whose teaching is Bible-based and in line with the general precepts of the Southern Baptist Convention. Workday: Workday will include the established office hours for the ministerial staff and such time as is required to meet the responsibilities of the position. As Sunday is considered a normal workday, a second day off shall be scheduled by church leadership. Although office hours are from 8:00am to 4:30pm with scheduled lunch break, the Associate Pastor may spend time away from the office during the day to accomplish his duties as established by the Senior Pastor. Supervisor: Under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor and responsible to the Personnel Committee. Responsibilities: Acts in the absence of the Senior Pastor, receiving ministerial phone calls, leading staff meetings, overseeing worship services, and other ministerial duties of the Senior Pastor. Assists in pastoral duties including but not limited to assisting in the areas of discipleship development, ministry counseling, pastoral care, prayer focus and efforts as required by the Senior Pastor. Shepherd Children and Youth leaders to ensure biblically sound discipleship for young families. Provide assistance to volunteers in this area when needed.
07/31/22 Assist in administrative duties including but not limited to assisting the Senior Pastor by ensuring the operational readiness of the church through direct oversight/supervision of the support staff performing duties in administration, finance, human resources, supply facilities management, etc. Oversee/supervise the operations of the Christian Academy and the Academy Director. Be the primary point of contact for Committee Chairpersons and Ministry Team Leaders. Areas of responsibility may vary at the discretion of the Senior Pastor.
