Reports to: Lead Pastor
Work Week: Full time-Sunday through Thursday with flexible hours required on Friday and Saturday as needed. Be willing to be on call. If Part time-2 days per week in addition to services on Sunday and Wednesday, or other special services.
Summary: The Associate Pastor will advance the mission of God locally and around the world by assisting the other Pastors in the oversight of this local church in all of its gatherings, ministries, and operations. In this regard, he is an elder.
In addition, the Associate Pastor will oversee the ministries of discipleship/education, and missions, as well as using giftedness to serve in every area of the church. In discipleship, he will oversee all small groups and promote, equip, recruit, and educate all leaders of small groups, and teach and lead small groups when called upon. In Missions, he will help recruit, and train members to live on mission here, and be willing to go on mission around the world for the cause of Christ. He will plan, and organize mission trips.
Qualifications:
Education & ExperienceA Bachelor's or Master's degree in ministry or a related field is preferredExhibits a disciplined approach to study of God's wordExperience of pastoral ministry or ministry leadership in Baptist church is preferredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesA deep understanding of Baptist doctrine and practices, with a commitment to evangelism, missions, discipleship, and serviceStrong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams of volunteers and ministry leadersExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people of all ages and backgroundsDemonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans, set goals, and measure progressA passion for outreach and missions, and a desire to see people come to know Jesus ChristProficient in various computer software, base understanding of social media, and other technology tools to support ministry communication and management Demonstrated desire for continued professional developmentDemonstrated ability to be able to disciple/teach both adults and youthPersonal CharacteristicsProven to be above reproach in the qualities for men who hold the office of Elder as laid out in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1Family and Finances:Faithful to his wife, if married, his children follow his godly leadership if a father, stewards his resources well, not a lover of money, hospitable,Character and Reputation:Self-controlled, respectable, not a drunkard, gentle, not quarrelsome or quick-tempered, well thought of by the community, not arrogant, a lover of good, holyFaith and Sound Doctrine:Not a recent convert, hold firm to the faith and sound doctrine, able to teach and encourage others in the faith and sound doctrine, able to refute and rebuke those who depart from the faith and sound doctrineAffirms without reservation our statement of faith, the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, as well as the Danver's Statement, and the Nashville StatementModels godly giving by being at least a tither (10%) of his household income to the church.A passion for evangelism and outreach so that people come to know Jesus Christ and join this churchA strong commitment to the mission and values of Living Hope Baptist ChurchPrimary Responsibilities:Feed the flockImplement and oversee the church's discipleship ministries, including Sunday School, Bible Studies, D-groups, Lifegroups, Youth ministryRecruit, train, and supervise ministry leaders and volunteers to teach and lead educational programs and activities, providing ongoing support and encouragementEvaluate and select or approve published educational materials and resources in alignment with the church's mission and theologyPreach on Sunday Mornings, nights, and Wednesday nights in adult, or youth when given the opportunityLead the flockModel the faithful Christian lifeCultivate and maintain positive relationships with members of the congregation, staff, and communitySupport the mission, vision, values, and strategy for the church in partnership with others in church leadershipDevelop and oversee the church's service ministries, including opportunities for members to serve within the church and community, and in missions abroadPlan and coordinate special events, retreats, workshops to enrich the spiritual growth of the congregationCollaborate with other church staff and volunteers to integrate educational programs into the overall ministry of the churchAssist the Elders in strategizing, implementing, and carrying out the ministries of the church and the care of its membersCreate and manage the discipleship ministry budget, ensuring that resources are used effectively and efficientlyProtect the FlockPromote Biblical unity and diversity within the congregationEnsure that the church and those who teach within it hold firm to the faith and sound doctrineRefute and rebuke those who depart from the faith and sound doctrineAssist in the effort to reconcile wayward church members back to the Lord and to the church through the biblical means of church disciplineCare for the flockEngage in the system of ministry built to physically and spiritually care for al the members of the church, particularly the sick, the widowed, the orphan, and those in crisis among us, and especially to those on your ministry teamsProvide Biblical counseling to church members and the community as you are ableRepresent the flockRepresent the churching the community and denominationallyCollaborate with other local pastors and churches to advance the mission of the churchAdditional Responsibilities: Attend regular staff meetings and participate in church wide events and activitiesPerform other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor
