Associate Pastor for Music and Worship

Job Type-Full Time

Status: Ordained

Reports to: Lead Pastor

Work Week: Sunday-Thursday with flexible hours required on Friday and Saturday as needed, and on-call at times

Summary: The Pastor of Worship will advance the mission of God locally and around the world by leading the people of God in the worship of God. He will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the music ministry, including planning, and leading congregational singing, overseeing audio-visual technologies, and teams, directing any choir or choral ensembles, organizing special music events, and raising up others to serve and to lead.

Qualifications:

Education & ExperienceA Bachelor's degree in music is preferredMinimum of 5 years experience leading music in a Baptist Church or similar setting is preferredOrdained to the office of pastor or able to be ordained upon arrival

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge in audio-visual technologies Strong organizations, communication, and interpersonal skills-ability to lead people in a Christ like mannerCommitment to a Christ-centered approach to worship and musicKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesProficient in various computer software, base understanding of social media, and other technology tools to support ministry communication and managementDemonstrated desire for continued professional development

Feed the FlockWork with Elders in choosing songs that build a rich church worship repertoire that is biblical sound, reflecting the truths and hope of ScriptureSelect passages of Scripture to intersperse in the Worship Gathering to saturate the experience with the Word of GodFeed the FlockCommunicate Biblical truth at appropriate times througout the worship setPreach or teach in the various venues of the church when given the opportunity

Lead the FlockModel the Faithful Christian lifeCultivate and maintain positive relationships with members of the congregation, staff, and communitySupport the mission, vision, values, and strategy of the church in partnership with others in church leadershipCollaborate with Elders to plan worship gatherings that are Christ-centered, engaging for the congregation, and use a variety of musical styles and instrumentationEnsure that all audio visual elements are ready for worship gatheringsOversee congregational singing during worship gatheringsDirect and rehearse the praise team, soloists, and any choir or choral ensemble, choosing appropriate music and arranging for featured performancesRecruit members to serve in the music ministry, and train, develop, schedule, and evaluate themOverses Student Praise TeamOversee the maintenance of all musical equipment and all sound/technical equipmentOrganize and lead special music events, such as Christmas and Easter programs, musicals, and concertsCreate and manage the music ministry and A-V Budgets, including the purchase, maintenance, and repair of instruments and equipment

Represent the flockRepresent the church in the community and denominationallyCollaborate with other local pastors and churches to advance the mission of the church when able

Additional responsibilities:

Attend regular staff meetings and participate in church wide events and activitiesServe as the point person for all weddings and ensure the Worship Center is ready and AV needs are metEnsure the Worship Center is ready for funerals hosted at the church and AV needs are metPerform other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor
