Forest Hills Baptist Church in Nashville/Brentwood, Tennessee is seeking an Associate Pastor of Discipleship to oversee a comprehensive and holistic church discipleship strategy for individuals of all ages and life stages. This individual is accountable for ensuring that everyone, regardless of their spiritual development, understands what their next step should be as they progress in their relationship with Christ.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise the church's age- and gender-based ministerial staff
• Work with the ministerial staff to ensure we accomplish one of the church's 2025 Goals: "Implement a family ministry model that will effectively equip families to disciple their children through every stage of development (birth through college) in partnership with our age-group ministries"
• Help enlist, train + equip, and support disciple-making lay leaders and volunteer
• Ensure all resources and curriculum used for disciple-making and teaching purposes are Biblically based, doctrinally sound, and in cohesion with the church's spiritual development goals
• Stay informed of current and appropriate discipleship ideas, thought leaders, methods + techniques, and materials
• Support other church ministries in working together to see the church's vision, mission, strategies, and goals realized
• Provide pastoral counseling and care other services as delegated by the Senior Pastor and in conjunction with the other ministerial staff

QUALIFICATIONS

• A sense of God's calling to Forest Hills and this role, as well as a strong desire to lead people to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ and see them grow spiritually
• Consistently demonstrates a life surrendered to Christ as evidenced by the Fruit of the Spirit and adherence to spiritual disciplines such as personal Bible study and prayer
• Agreement with the church's Statement of Faith (available at fhbc.org/bylaws)
• A master's degree from a seminary — ideally one supported by the Southern Baptist Convention or otherwise recognized as doctrinally consistent with historical SBC beliefs
• A minimum of five (5) years of local church and/or denominational experience in leading discipleship or spiritual development ministries, as well as a proven track record of leading people to grow spiritually
