Overview:

FBC Carlsbad seeks a full-time Associate Pastor of Music and Worship to lead a comprehensive music and worship ministry in a strong, growing multi-generational church. After 32 years of service, our current Music and Worship Pastor is transitioning to a new mission and community pastoral position within the church. Located in southeast New Mexico, the Carlsbad area continues to see explosive growth, particularly in the oil and gas industry in the Permian Basin. With two National Parks (Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains) nearby and, rivers, lakes, and mountains in the area, Carlsbad offers abundant recreational activities for the whole family. As a leading church in the Baptist Convention of New Mexico, FBC Carlsbad continues to expand its missions and ministry, both locally and globally. As we transition to a new season of ministry, we are searching for God's man to join us as we continue to reach our community and world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Personal Requirements:

• A spiritually mature Christian who seeks to follow Christ in fulfilling the Great Commission and living out the Great Commandment.
• A person called by God to the Gospel ministry and has been called and gifted to minister in music and worship.
• A person with a pleasant Christian personality who relates well to others as part of a team.
• A person who affirms a conservative, Biblical theology, and agreement with FBC Carlsbad's statement of faith, including the current Baptist Faith & Message of the SBC.

Education/Experience:

A Bachelor's degree or higher (with an emphasis in music) preferred.

3-5 years of previous experience leading church music and worship ministry preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, organize, and administer a comprehensive music and worship ministry compatible with FBC Carlsbad's overall mission. A comprehensive music and worship ministry will be a Christ-centered, Bible-based, Spirit-led ministry in a multi-generational congregation.
• A comprehensive music and worship ministry will include leading congregational singing at all regular worship services of the church as well as at special events unless guest musicians have been arranged; leading, developing, and organizing various musical groups within the church, such as age-graded choirs (children, students), adult choir, senior adult choir, praise teams, praise bands, ensembles, quartets, soloists, etc.; enlisting and scheduling instrumentalists, notable musicians, choirs, audio/visual volunteers, etc. for all worship services, including special services and revivals; preparing and/or reviewing all multi-media presentations in advance of expected worship services; developing, organizing, and leading such other musical or worship or arts groups that would enhance the overall music and worship ministry of the church.
• Assist the Senior Pastor in planning and coordinating regular and special church worship services.
• Maintain a comprehensive music and worship library, as well as materials, supplies, musical instruments, audio-visual equipment, and any other items directly related to the music and worship ministry of the church.
• As part of a team, coordinate, cooperate, and assist others (pastoral staff, ministerial staff, non-ministerial staff, volunteers, committees, church congregation) in areas related to the music and worship ministry and the overall mission of FBC Carlsbad. This includes coordination of Music and Worship events on the church calendar; coordination in ordering appropriate materials for the music and worship ministry; assisting and cooperating with other staff members in areas of mutual responsibility (i.e., camps, youth revivals, Vacation Bible School, etc.); participation at weekly staff meetings; and attending periodic staff retreats and planning sessions.
• Enlist, train, and supervise paid staff and volunteers to serve in the various programs within the church's music and worship ministry, including audio-visual, age-graded choirs, and other music and worship-related groups within the church.
• Lead in planning, promoting, and directing special music and worship events, including seasonal musicals, concerts, revivals, etc.
• Provide special music for weddings, funerals, and other special events upon request.
• Administer the annual Music and Worship Budget within the allocated amounts outlined in the church's yearly budget and from the designated funds donated to Music and Worship. Develop a Music and Worship Ministry budget each year and submit this budget request to the Finance Committee.
• Assist the Senior Pastor in other ministerial duties as assigned, including visitation/outreach (hospital, prospects, new members, shut-ins, etc.).

Salary/Benefits:

Based on experience, a competitive salary and compensation package will be offered, including salary, housing allowance, ½ Social Security reimbursement, Family Health Insurance, Retirement (Guidestone), and Ministry Expenses (conventions/conferences, books, pastoral ministry).
