Associate Pastor – Worship & Students Job Description (Full Time)

Requirements

• A sense of a calling from God to vocational ministry.
• A commitment to the life and ministry of the local church is required.
• Required to affirm the Boulevard Baptist Church Confession of Faith (adopted 2021) as well as the Baptist Faith and Message (2000).
• Must be a self-directed worker who takes initiative to accomplish tasks with minimal or no direct supervision.
• A willingness to engage in team ministry is required.
• A love for and willingness to work with the members of the congregation are required.
• Confidentiality is required.
• A college degree is expected.

Duties

• Plan, staff, and oversee the music ministry of the church for all age groups.
• Review and secure materials for worship music.
• Ensure that instruments, sound system, and video system are all properly maintained and upgraded as needed.
• Prepare budget requests and oversee budget expenditures for both worship and students (7th- 12th Grade).

Preferences

• Work with Ministry Assistant in preparing promotional materials related to ministry responsibilities.
• Plan and oversee ministry to Students (Youth) ranging from 7th-12th grade to include Wednesday night discipleship, annual mission trip, monthly activities, and fund-raising events, as indicated.
• Organize parent volunteers and chaperones for church sponsored Youth Activities.

  Pastoral visitation, including prospective members, current members, hospitals, homebound,

  etc., as part of team ministry with other staff ministers.

• Participate in ministry staff meetings.
• Work hours to be determined in consultation with senior pastor. This is a 40 hour/week position. Sundays are considered part of the 40 hours. 2 days off per week. The days off are negotiable. Normally, an 8:00 – 5:00 schedule is expected, but the nature of pastoral ministry can make this impractical. Personal integrity in the matter of hours worked is essential.
• Take on other reasonable tasks and responsibilities as required. Supervision

  The Associate Pastor is under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor and/or the Personnel Committee.

  This job description does not attempt to describe in every detail the work of the Associate Pastor, but rather is a general picture of what is expected. Church employment is unique from all other employment. It requires the individual person to possess an unusual amount of patience, understanding and discretion. It also requires an attitude consistent with the teachings of Christ. All employees should conduct their lives so as never to cast a bad reflection upon the church. Vacation time, conference time, and ministry away in other settings to be set by church policy and may be modified by the Personnel Committee with church approval.
