Job Overview
Planted in 2011, the church’s vision is, “In DC as it is in heaven.” Working alongside the Lead Pastor, the Associate Pastor will have an opportunity to continue the growth of this kingdom- minded congregation. The church currently meets at the historic Ebenezer United Methodist Church building. A primary responsibility for this position is leading the dynamic Community Group ministry. Approximately 20 small groups meet around the city and gather about 350 people weekly. The incoming pastor will enjoy the work of recruiting, equipping and supporting the work of this impactful ministry. Additional responsibilities include teaching as needed throughout the calendar year, mobilizing the body toward mission fulfillment and providing pastoral care for those in times of need. Redemption Hill Church is a theologically conservative congregation embracing Reformed theology and an evangelistic posture toward the city. The congregation will welcome a leader whose walk with Jesus is life-giving, positive and action oriented. As a member of a staff team who cares for each other, he will embrace working together to reach more people for Christ.
Job Description
Affiliation: Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) and Acts 29 Attendance: 250+ About: The church worships weekly in two similar services at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., with an online service accessible during the early service. The services feature contemporary music, weekly communion, and an expository-style message designed to correctly teach scripture while helping congregants understand their role in a post-Christian setting. Children’s programming is offered in each service. The church is financially stable and is looking to move into permanent facilities through the program they initiated called Dwell.
The Candidate:
Redemption Hill Church (RHC) is searching for an Associate Pastor who is both spiritually fervent and theologically robust. RHC envisions this person as someone who is deeply rooted in Biblical convictions and who can articulate them with grace and clarity. He will be a team player who is flexible and adaptable, eager to collaborate with the dynamic staff, and is relationally present with the Body. He will be someone who welcomes new people, helps them get connected, disciples them into a deeper walk with Jesus, and then activates them for ministry. While holding firm to a Christian worldview, he enjoys thoughtful and compassionate conversations with people who think differently. He is a steady presence who can serve as a spiritual anchor for the community. This individual will be a reliable and creative leader, dependable in getting tasks accomplished.

The Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will clearly align with the core beliefs of Redemption Hill Church and have no less than five years of full-time Associate Pastor experience. He is credentialed in the EFCA or willing to attain credentialing. The role will include preaching, planning, collaborating, equipping, overseeing, and developing unpaid volunteers. He will have a master’s degree, with an M.Div. degree being preferred.
