Associate Pastor (with an Emphasis on Children and Youth): Thomson Presbyterian Church

Job Description:

The Associate Pastor will report to the Senior Pastor and will be responsible to the Elders. This position provides an opportunity to serve a key role in the spiritual growth of an established yet growing congregation serving in all aspects of pastoral ministry in the church. Necessary areas of the focus will include teaching/preaching ministry to children and youth. The elders are looking for someone that is eager to be mentored and eventually transition into the Senior Pastor. The responsibilities and duties are as follows:

· Overseeing the nurture and development of children and youth ministries through relationship building, through large and small group activities, through mentorship, and through outreach and parent engagement.

· Shepherding the congregation through the means of relational connection, pastoral care and counsel.

· Assisting in leading the worship service when needed.

· All other duties as assigned

Compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package will also be provided.

Position Qualifications:

· Previous pastoral experience, including preaching, teaching, and providing pastoral care

· Has a deep-rooted personal relationship with Jesus Christ

· Has a heart for serving Christ and His Church, with a deep love for God's people

· Possess strong interpersonal skills with all age groups, having a desire to engage and shepherd

· Maintains a humble, servant-hearted approach to leadership

· Maintains a commitment to personal spiritual growth, holiness, and prayer

· Maintains a teachable spirit

Description of Organization

Thomson Presbyterian Church. Currently it is independent of a Presbytery. The church was organized in 1938. The total membership is approximately 101. The Session is currently made up of 3 members and the diaconate is made up of 5 members. Currently, our children and youth numbers are low. We have an active Women's Ministry and our Community Outreach Ministries include: Annual VBS program, Mission McDuffie, and Manna (Local Food Bank). We have supported the Palmer Home for Children. We conduct an annual Missions Conference and promote participation through prayer and faith promise.
