Position Assignment
● Title: Associational Mission Strategist (further referred to as the AMS)
● Election: The AMS shall be employed by the Association upon the recommendation of the Administrative Team and the approval of the Executive Board.
● Duration: The call shall be for an indefinite period of time. If, at any time, the Association or AMS wishes to terminate this contract, the AMS shall give a thirty (30) day notice, and sixty (60) day notice by the Association.
● Core Leadership Values: Office administration, strategic planning for effective ministry, vision casting, evaluation and assessment of ministry, analysis and prognosis of data.
Primary Roles
● The Association Mission Strategist (AMS) is responsible for helping equip, encourage, and enlist healthy churches and healthy leaders in fulfilling our cooperative work of:
○ Winning the Lost
○ Strengthening Missions
○ Equipping Church Leaders
● The AMS works to strengthen relationships among churches, encouraging congregations in our association to become a family of churches.
● The AMS of the Greenup Baptist Association shall provide responsible leadership in the Association's work.
● The AMS shall assist the churches of the Association in developing their maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
● The AMS shall work in cooperation with the Kentucky Baptist Convention, the Southern Baptist Convention, Send Relief, NAMB, IMB, Disaster Relief, and Women's Missionary Union in fulfilling his responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
● The AMS visits with member churches and missions by attending services, special events, and speaking engagements.
● The AMS is available to come alongside Association Pastors and their families to assist them in times of crisis as well as to be an encouragement to our pastors and their families.
● The AMS serves as a consultant and resource to church committees, churches without pastors, pastor search committees and other church needs as requested.
● The AMS cooperates with ministry teams and other organizational leaders in the planning, directing, supervising, and evaluating the work of the Association's Missions ministries.
● The AMS serves as a consultant to churches that desire help in developing mission and ministry strategies.
● The AMS works directly with individual churches to assist and reinforce their efforts in church planting and/or church replanting.
● The AMS provides tools and metrics to gauge health for pastors and churches. The DML will research and provide tools to help pastors assess the health of their own lives and their congregations.
● The AMS is responsible to the Administrative Team to whom he shall report at regular meeting times.
● The AMS administers all CABA policies and instructions.
● The AMS coordinates the work of the staff, teams, and others who participate in Association programs.
● The AMS provides supervision of all Association employees in their assigned duties.
● The AMS serves as an ex officio member of all teams.
● The AMS informs the Administrative Team in advance of all absences from the regular work schedule.
Qualifications
● A born-again believer in Jesus Christ and a member in good standing with an SBC church.
● A person with proven leadership ability, and with executive qualities sufficient for the direction of the Association, and the ability to assist in the budget programs and personnel management.
● Degrees from college and a seminary affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention are preferred; other postgraduate study is desirable.
● Experience demonstrating leadership and executive qualities sufficient to direct the varied programs of the Greenup Baptist Association.
● Exhibits skills in effective communication through preaching, teaching, coaching and mentoring individuals and groups.
● Exhibit the leadership ability to bring all churches of the Greenup Baptist Association to work in partnership with one another to further advance the Kingdom Ministry.
● Be a member of, and loyal to, a member church of Greenup Baptist Association.
Personnel Policies:
● The AMS may have a home office in addition to the provided Association office space.
● The AMS is expected to fulfill the standard requirements of a Bi-vocational work week.
● The AMS shall have two (2) weeks of paid vacation per year. An additional week of vacation will be added after every five years of service.
● The AMS must have reliable transportation, a valid Driver's License, and proper insurance.
● The AMS maintains a cell phone (reimbursed by the Association) that is connected to the Association office phone number (through RingCentral service).
● The AMS maintains an Association email account.
● The AMS may conduct two revivals per year outside the Association and as many revivals as he sees fit within the Association.
● The AMS is encouraged to attend work-related conferences, and shall be reimbursed for expenses as allotted in the budget. He should also be encouraged to pursue continuing education opportunities with the approval of the Administrative Team.
● The AMS is available to the churches of the Association to serve as an interim pastor or staff member, recognizing that this ministry accompanies his role. However, if it becomes necessary for an interim to serve for more than three months at one church or for more than three months out of the calendar year as an interim, the AMS must receive approval from the Administrative Committee.
● The AMS may provide pulpit supply in churches on Sunday, upon request by the churches, while maintaining an appropriate schedule of visitation to member churches and maintaining activity in his home church.
● The AMS is free to observe the following paid holidays: New Year's (2 days), Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (2 days), and Christmas (2 days).
● The AMS shall receive an annual review from the Administrative Team, which shall then recommend annual budget adjustments to the AMS salary, benefits, and expense accounts.
All employees of the Greenup Baptist Association must submit to a background check. Any candidate who has been convicted of a felony, including but not restricted to sexual abuse, will not be employed by the Association. Employees convicted of criminal activity will be subject to termination.
