Job Description for Associational Director
Principal Function: The Associational Director is responsible for leading the Charleston BaptistAssociation to accomplish its mission of helping churches obey the Great Commission together.
Recruited by: The Administrative Team and Additional Members (as appointed by the Moderatorwith the approval of the Executive Board)Employed by: The Charleston Baptist Association Executive BoardSupervisor: The Administrative Team/Executive Board
Qualifications:1. Must be a born-again and baptized believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.2. Must affirm the current Baptist Faith & Message.3. Must meet the biblical qualifications of an elder as described in 1 st Timothy 3:1-7 andTitus 1:6-9.4. Must confirm a calling to associational ministry and service.5. Must possess proven leadership experience and educational qualifications such that hewill be able to effectively carry out his associational duties. Formal training preferred.6. Should have at least five years of experience as a pastor with a Southern Baptist church.7. Must show a demonstrable commitment to growing in professional development.
Relationships:1. Work with CBA pastors in the role of coach, mentor, encourager, counselor, and friend.The Associational Director shall visit at least one service of each member church percalendar year.2. Work with CBA churches in the role of consultant, missional strategist, and resourcedirection. Pulpit supply and/or interim work is permitted but should be limited to notaffect the work of the association.3. Work with CBA teams to oversee goals, programs, agendas, etc. The AssociationalDirector is ex officio member of all teams.4. Oversee CBA staff.5. The Associational Director will be a member of a CBA church where he faithfully andregularly participates in congregational life.
Responsibilities:1. Cast, conduct, and evaluate associational vision.2. Develop an atmosphere of unity and cooperation between CBA churches and pastors.3. Lead monthly pastors' events with the goal of fostering relationships, promotingcollaboration, and pastoral training and development.4. Lead the CBA to develop and execute a mission strategy for local and global missions.5. Lead in planning and coordinating an annual calendar and budget for the CBA.6. Oversee associational communication and monthly newsletter.
