Associational Mission Strategist (AMS/DOM)
The Association Mission Strategist (AMS) for The Owen County Baptist Association & Ten Mile Baptist Association (The Associations) is tasked with providing responsible leadership through administration, leadership, counsel to pastors and church staff, interpretation and communication of information, and effective public relations. The AMS will be employed jointly by The Associations and are to cooperate with member churches — thirty-four (34) between The Associations — to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness and collaborate with the Kentucky Baptist Convention (KBC) and the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) in fulfilling their responsibilities. Qualifications, Education, and Experience1. The AMS must be Christian, saved by grace through faith in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As such, he must consistently live a life worthy of that calling and conforming to biblical standards of behavior.2. The AMS must perceive and confess a clear calling to vocational ministry. As such, he must meet the biblical qualifications for an elder/overseer as outlined in Titus 1 and 1 Timothy 3 and that calling must have been affirmed through ordination. If he is married, his wife must likewise affirm and be in support of his call to ministry.3. The AMS must be a committed supporter of, and thoroughly acquainted with, Southern Baptist Missions and denominational structures. As such, he must also fully affirm the beliefs and standards of the Baptist Faith and Message Statement 2000.4. The AMS must communicate effectively in writing and orally to individuals and groups, in person and remotely. As such, he must be able to use and adapt to current trends and methods of communication and media distribution.5. The AMS must be a gifted administrator, organizing resources and motivating teams within The Associations to carry out their tasks and to contribute to our joint mission. His administrative duties must be carried out in a timely manner without supervision.6. The AMS should have at least four (4) years of experience in a ministry leadership role — i.e. Lead Pastor, Associate Pastor, etc.7. The AMS should possess a bachelor's degree, with a preference of a master's degree from a biblically faithful, accredited theological seminary. Experience serving in a ministry leadership role will be considered as a potential substitute for education on a 2:1 basis — two (2) years ministry to one (1) year education. Activities and Responsibilities1. The AMS works under the direction of the two Administrative Teams, with the Executive Boards of both Associations having final authority. He is required to provide quarterly written reports to the Executive Boards and an annual report to the Associations at their annual meetings. He will seek to coordinate efforts toward the fulfillment of the collective missional purposes defined by these groups.2. The AMS collaborates closely with the Administration Teams, offering leadership and resources to fulfill the team's responsibilities. They aid in recruiting, training, and leading volunteers from member churches for key administration and ministry roles within the Associations.3. The AMS should reside within the geographical boundaries of the Associational Churches Local Missions Field.4. The AMS is responsible for visiting each member church at least once (1) per calendar year during regular services and meeting.5. The AMS will regularly meet with the pastoral staff of member churches to counsel, encourage, and assess the needs of member churches and staff.6. The AMS is tasked with fostering fellowship and partnership among member churches, providing leadership and resources to Association Ministry Teams, and promoting programs and ministries of the Association, KBC, and SBC. He will also serve as the general contact person for the Association(s).
Hours, Remuneration, Review, and Benefits1. The AMS shall work a minimum of forty (40) hours per week. The AMS will have the freedom to set his own schedule, however flexibility must be maintained to be available to all member churches at a variety of times as necessary. Vacations and Holidays are included and will be discussed in more depth during the interview process.2. A beginning salary range of $65,000-$75,000 may be negotiated based on education and experience.3. The AMS is allowed to conduct up to four (4) revivals and/or conferences annually outside the The Associations.4. Any income earned by the AMS through supply work, conducting revivals, funerals, weddings, and personal gifts will be retained by the AMS.5. The AMS is encouraged to attend work-related conferences, i.e. KBC Annual Meeting, SBC Annual Meeting, with expenses reimbursed as feasible.
