About the role:
The Development Officer will work to establish and grow funding for two new clinics in Aurora and other locations, bringing God’s love and compassion to abortion-minded women in Kane, Kendall, and Will counties and equipping them to choose life – both physical and spiritual. The Development Officer is responsible for securing new funding and increasing the base of support to sustain and grow two regional clinics. He/she will work with and report to the V.P. of Development, developing a plan to financially sustain the new clinics. He/she will implement and manage this plan through managing operational budgets, fundraising, and community outreach with donors and community leaders.
Job Description
Responsibilities include:
- Invite new donors and convert portfolio of donors to increase their level of giving to secure financial support to sustain two regional clinics.
- Raise $150K+ in new funding in Year 1, an additional $50K in Year 2, and an additional $100K in Year 3 for each new clinic.
- Implement moves management strategy to meet funding goals.
- Develop short and long-range plans to cultivate and engage ministry partners face to face, seeking their financial support.
- Implement disciplined methods for contacting, scheduling, visiting and personally following through to consistently grow a base of support from a growing number of ministry partners.
- Develop strategic relationships in the local community where prospective ministry partners attend.
- Integrate planned giving to secure long-term sustainable giving.
- Provide leadership for local major development events.
- Cultivate and develop relationships with churches in the community to support these clinics.
- Present at local churches and organizations to gain or increase financial support for new clinics.
- Build and develop an advisory board to help with fundraising and community support.
- Work together with other members of the Development Team to coordinate fundraising activities.
- Participate in bi-monthly Development Team Meetings and Monthly Staff Meetings.
- Keep abreast of both current trends in fundraising and pro-life issues as they pertain to our state and country.
- Identify, recruit and train volunteers for specific projects or events that deepen ministry partner engagement.
- Learn and utilize Virtuous (CRM) to record, track and manage all prospective and active ministry partners.
- Available to work weekends and evenings, as needed.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Candidate requirements:
- A committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and is a participant in a local church.
- Exhibit a strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position and enthusiasm for the mission and strategy of Caring Network.

- Comfortable with participating in prayer with co-workers and donors.
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to plan, set priorities, and implement work in a structured, disciplined manner managing multiple relationships with minimal direction.
- Drive to achieve and surpass goals and able to show a history of meeting/exceeding goals.
- Proven record of relationship building, customer service skills, and successful gift solicitations.
- Thorough knowledge of planned/deferred giving with continuous learning of best practices and updates in the field.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Excellent written and oral/presentation communication skills.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
- 3-5+ years of successful face-to-face major gift solicitations.
- Bachelor’s Degree (required) or equivalent combination of qualifying experience.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
- Exhibit honesty, dependability, initiative, sound judgment, productivity, and teamwork.
Salary: $60,000 – $80,000/year
