Job Overview
The Falls Church Anglican is looking for a part-time AVL Technician to plan, setup, and execute all audio aspects of services or events as directed by supervisor. Coordinate with other AVL support staff and volunteers in connection with program to ensure efficiency, creativity and excellence. Collaborate with AVL Systems Engineer to develop plans and technical solutions for various scheduled programs. Develop and train volunteers to help build the AVL Team. Asist with production for weekly traditional services. Serve as primary engineer for recording projects within the Worship & Music department.
Job Description
The Audio Technician will be responsible for:
AUDIO ENGINEERING – Create the Front of House Mix for Contemporary Services and rehearsals, as well as for large scale special events or retreats. Prepare and setup required audio equipment to be used by musicians, speakers, etc. Collaborate with musicians, Broadcast Mix Technicians and Stage Hands for all events scheduled.
AVL SUPPORT – Build mobile AVL rigs to be used as needed for offsite events in coordination with AVL Systems Engineer. Help AVL Systems Engineer to implement new equipment that can be incorporated into routine and special events. Provide AVL support or assist in scheduling volunteers, for various scheduled programs within TFCA, as directed by supervisor.
TRAINING – Create training plans and procedures to onboard contractors or volunteers for TFCA audio facilities. Provide volunteers with audio techniques, best practices, and insight on TFCA specific equipment and processes through routine training opportunities.
MUSIC PRODUCTION – Create and engineer music content, in collaboration with the Director of Contemporary Worship, to be used by Worship Band members, distributed to digital channels and released for congregational purposes, or utilized in other AVL environments. Asist in building a ministry geared towards music creation and recording for traditional and contemporary worship, as well as for other artists within TFCA.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years experience in use and maintenance of production/touring grade AVL equipment and systems.
- 3+ years experience in managing or leading people in volunteer or staff capacity.
- 3+ years experience in planning and executing successful audio-video projects, including audio recording and mixing.
- BA in related field or equivalent certification.
- Advanced knowledge of Avid ProTools, Ableton Live, Logic Pro or other professional DAW. Waves Soundgrid, Q-SYS or other digital audio processing systems beneficial.
- Advanced skills with Audinate Dante and knowledge of other AV networking standards.
- Working knowledge of lighting and video production systems.
- Working knowledge of video and graphic editing processes and software.
- Proven experience working with vendors and contractors.
- Detail-oriented thinker with ability to plan, strategize and execute in timely manner, while keeping a focus on the big picture.
- Emotional intelligence, able to listen to and interact with a wide range of people and personalities.
- Self-motivated and flexible, able to learn and adapt to new things quickly.
- Satisfactory background check.
