The Opportunity

As our Benefits Coordinator, you'll be the go-to resource for all things related to benefits and employee support. You'll help missionaries, staff, and their families navigate the complexities of insurance, reimbursements, and benefits—ensuring that those on the front lines of ministry are cared for and empowered to focus on their calling.

You won't just manage paperwork. You'll build trust, support front lines gospel workers, and strengthen our culture of service and excellence. And as ABWE continues to grow, you'll have opportunities to expand your HR expertise and take on broader responsibilities within the department.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Lead benefits orientations and guide new employees through enrollment with confidence and care.
  • Administer reimbursements and claims, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clear communication.
  • Partner with our international insurance carrier to troubleshoot and resolve claims issues.
  • Coordinate insurance payments and distributions to missionary accounts.
  • Support HR leadership by preparing data, statistics, and reports during insurance renewals.
  • Maintain and update organizational charts and other key HR documentation.
  • Prepare employment verification and visa support letters for our staff and missionaries.
  • Utilize Rock RMS and related systems to research, report, and streamline processes.
  • Design and distribute HR communications and forms using our e-signature platform.
  • Support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives within the HR team.

What We're Looking For

  • Associate's degree in human resources, business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience in insurance, benefits, or HR administration.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • High integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Confident communicator—written, verbal, and interpersonal.
  • Organized, deadline-oriented, and energized by helping others succeed.
  • A heart for ministry and a lifestyle consistent with ABWE's Statement of Faith and Christian Code of Conduct.
  • Experience with Rock RMS or similar HRM software is a plus.

Job Description

Job Summary/Primary Role: The Benefits Coordinator assists employees with benefits enrollment and questions, processes all medical reimbursements, and submits international insurance claims. The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for various administrative areas within the department, including open enrollment, employment verifications, and various reporting requirements.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducts benefit orientation for new employees.
  • Processes medical reimbursements and files appropriate international medical claims.
  • Coordinates with the international insurance carrier regarding claims issues.
  • Processes insurance payments and distribution to missionary accounts.
  • Assists the Director of Human Resources and other leadership in obtaining statistics and information in renewal process for all insurance plans.
  • Maintains, updates and posts company organizational chart.
  • Prepares proof of employment letters for visa requirements.
  • Completes employment verification forms for bank loans, mortgages, apartment leases, etc. for employees.
  • Researches and prepares reports by utilizing the Rock RMS database.
  • Prepares missionary retirement notification letters to supporters.
  • Designs and distributes documents (such as new hire paperwork, insurance enrollment, etc.) through an electronic signature program.
  • Administrates enrollments/terminations of the benefit programs, facilitating through various vendor portals.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.

Qualifications: Ability to pass a background check and all necessary clearances as mandated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Education: Associate's Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience required.

Minimum Prior Experience Required: Previous experience in insurance, Human Resources, or related field. Previous experience with Rock RMS or similar HR Software helpful.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand, and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a moderate to high noise level.
