Pastor at Harmony Baptist Church

Purpose: In accordance with 1 Timothy 3:1-7, 1 Timothy 5:17, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4, the Pastor is responsible for leading the church Body in carrying out its mission as a New Testament Church. The Pastor is responsible for proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, conducting the ordinances and functions of worship, teaching and equipping the church body, engaging in pastoral care, providing administrative leadership in all areas of church life, and supervising church staff. The Pastor reports to the Deacons of the church.

Qualifications:

Education of a high school diploma or greaterPreferred education of a BA or greaterCalled to the mission by a Church of Baptist faithDemonstrated support or affiliation with the Southern Baptist ConventionExpository and true to the Bible in his delivery mannerA Man (if married) is to be devoted to his Wife and FamilyHumble, Gentle, Peaceful, and a lover of goodnessSober, self disciplined, and respectableHospitableA faithful servant with financial integrityAbove reproachSpiritually mature and an example to the church bodyAble to teach Agree to uphold the Church's Statement of Faith

Responsibilities:

WorshipRegularly preach and teach the Word of God and ensure the faithful proclamation of the GospelStudy God's Word for explanation, understanding, illustration, and application of biblical principles for believers to use in everyday lifeLead and preach services which are not limited to, but generally (1) Worship Service on sunday mornings and (1)on wednesday eveningsLead the Church to function as a New Testament ChurchPlan and lead worship services, Bible studies, etc., in conjunction with the deacons and church staffOfficiate at weddings, funerals, nursing home services, etc. as needed from the request of church membersTo administer the ordinances of baptism.To administer the ordinances of the Lord's Supper in conjunction with the DeaconsTo administer the ordinances of Children's Dedication Ceremonies. Pastoral CareProvide pastoral care through visitation, counseling, and prayerOutreachLead the church in evangelism and outreach with the good news of Jesus ChristDirect the assimilation of new members into the life of the congregationEncourage all Ministries of the church to welcome others to participate in the mission work of Christ Administration Oversee the administration and management of all areas of the congregations ministryServe as moderator of business meetingsAttend deacon's meetingsSupport, supervise, encourage, and evaluate staff membersPromote faithful financial stewardship and congregational benevolence
