East Williamson Baptist Church, located in the coalfields of Southern West Virginia in the city of Williamson, WV (population 2,735) is prayerfully searching for a bi-vocational pastor. We minister to people in the Williamson area which includes Mingo County, West Virginia, and the adjoining Pike County, Kentucky.

The following is a list of some of our current ministries: Sunday School, Sunday Morning Worship Service (Attendance 40-50), Sunday Evening Worship Service, & Wednesday Evening Prayer Meeting/Bible Study. The following are additional ministries of our church: an active Music Ministry & audio/visual team; a monthly Senior Adult Ministry; an active Women's Ministry; a VBS ministry, and a bus ministry. We currently desire to see growth in our children & young adult age groups as well as develop ministries to reach the parents of these groups.

Our church presently has three staff members (Director of Music Ministries, Secretary, & Custodian).

Our church is very active in the Coalfields Association of Southern Baptist Churches and the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists. We consider ourselves to be a doctrinally conservative church and an evangelistic church that agrees with the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message. We do have a parsonage.

Bi-vocational Pastor Job Description

"The pastor is responsible for leading this congregation in its functioning as a New Testament church. The pastor will lead the congregation, the organizations, and the church staff in performing their tasks. A major concern of the pastor is to perform pastoral responsibilities. The pastor is the leader of worship, proclamation, education, and pastoral ministry". (Quote taken directly from the EWBC Constitution.)

Qualifications and Requirements:

-Potential Pastor must meet the qualifications for a Pastor provided in Scripture (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9).

-Potential Pastor must feel he is following God's direction to seek the pastorate of the East Williamson Baptist Church.

-Potential Pastor must be affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.

-Potential Pastor must agree with the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.

-Potential Pastor must have solid preaching/teaching abilities.

-Potential Pastor must have a vision for reaching the lost.

-Potential Pastor must have a desire to be active in our community and have a passion for connecting with the unchurched.

-Potential Pastor must have a love for all ages in the church and a desire to help guide and strengthen families. We desire to have a pastor who will "shepherd and disciple the flock".

-Potential Pastor must be open to a visitation/phone ministry (hospital visits, homebound visits, checking on members via phone calls).

-Potential Pastor must seek God's will for the church and equip its members to actively utilize the gifts God has given them to reach the lost and to care for each other. Our pastor will not be expected to "do it all".

-Pastor will conduct all weekly services (Sunday Morning, Sunday Night, & Wednesday Night) by delivering a sermon or by leading a Bible Study/Prayer Meeting.

-Pastor will lead in the observance of the Lord's Supper and Baptisms.

-Pastor will oversee filling the pulpit on any Sunday he is not present to ensure doctrinal consistency.

-Pastor will perform weddings and officiate funerals.
