OverviewLive Oak Church is seeking an outgoing, servant-hearted Pastor to join our leadership team. This role is ideal for someone who loves the local church, thrives in collaboration, and is passionate about equipping others for spiritual growth and service. The Pastor will help shepherd the congregation, support teaching and discipleship, and provide leadership in key ministry areas based on gifting and need.

Live Oak Church is a six-year-old church plant in Johns Island, a growing community just outside Charleston, SC. The church has a small but faithful congregation, a strong history of community outreach, and a staff that includes an Associate Pastor, Youth Minister, and Children's Minister.

Key Responsibilities

• Preaching & Teaching:
  • Preach regularly in Sunday services as part of our preaching team
  • Teach in a small group and other occasional discipleship opportunities
  • Collaborate on sermon planning and theological development
• Discipleship & Pastoral Care:
  • Provide spiritual counsel, prayer, and support to individuals and families
  • Help develop and oversee strategies for multiplying disciples
  • Assist in pastoral visits, weddings, funerals, and other life events as needed
• Administrative & Team Collaboration:
  • Participate in staff meetings, planning retreats, and leadership development
  • Assist with communication, event planning, and church-wide initiatives
  • Support the elders in shepherding the church body

Qualifications

• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a life marked by spiritual maturity
• Meets Biblical requirements for office listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9
• Affirms essential doctrines as stated in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
• Experience in pastoral ministry, teaching, and leadership
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
• Humble, teachable spirit and a heart for equipping others
• Preferred: College degree from an accredited evangelical university or seminary
