About the role
- The individual will be employed by the CCO and in partnership with Christ Church East Bay to serve students at the University of California, Berkeley.
- This is a full-time position (40 hours weekly).
- This position includes health, dental and vision benefits
- This position includes paid vacation, sick and holiday
- This position does require self-support fundraising to cover a portion of the salary
Purpose of the position:
- Catalyze Kingdom transformation at UC Berkeley by sharing the Gospel, inviting students into the life of the local church, and mobilizing the Christian community and churches to engage ministry on campus. Develop deep collaboration between church/community members and students that promotes strong biblical discipleship, life long commitment to the Church, and the flourishing of Christ's kingdom in their local context and all areas of life.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Masters preferred.
- Experience: 2-3 years of college ministry experience required, 4+ years of general ministry experience preferred

OUR MODEL At the core of CCO ministry is the understanding that God works through the Church to fulfill His purposes in the world. This means the local church is the proper context for gathering, equipping, and sending students into a life-long Kingdom mission. Our Partnership model promotes deep collaboration between the CCO and the local church where vision for ministry, ministry strategy, and ministry design are mutually shared. The CCO places Campus Ministry Staff to help mobilize the church to reach students and develop them as future Christian leaders.
PURPOSE OF POSITION Catalyze Kingdom transformation at UC Berkeley by sharing the Gospel, inviting students into the life of the local church, and mobilizing the Christian community and churches to engage ministry on campus. Develop deep collaboration between church/community members and students that promotes strong biblical discipleship, life long commitment to the Church, and the flourishing of Christ's kingdom in their local context and all areas of life.
RESPONSIBILITIES Campus Engagement ● Create and routinely revise a ministry plan according to the CCO's Annual Ministry Plan and Campus Playbook. ● Ensure a consistent and visible presence of the CCO and Christ Church East Bay on campus and in meeting with students through regular participation in UC Berkeley's activities. ● Collect and maintain student contact information, following up with & inviting students into ministry opportunities. ● Plan and facilitate gatherings of students on campus throughout the week that include prayer, teaching, evangelism, leadership development, and applying Scripture to life in college and beyond. ● Invite students regularly to church gatherings, CCO's Jubilee conference and other transformative opportunities. ● Establish a healthy relationship with the university that honors UC Berkeley guidelines for outside organizations and promotes sustainable campus access for the CCO. ● Establish a presence with Unity in Christ (UiC) at UC Berkeley. ● Develop and maintain relationships between Christ Church and local campus and university ministries (and their leaders) with a focus on the campus ministries that are not connected to local churches. ● Register CCO as an official campus organization in collaboration with Christ Church students in order to be able to make use of the campus facilities and participate in tabling events.
● Table and promote Christ Church East Bay during Welcome Week, at Jesus in Berkeley event, and during the beginning of the 2nd semester. ● Invite and bring students to Christ Church faith exploration events, such as Q&As and Alpha. Church Integration ● Effectively and consistently communicate the vision and progress of college ministry within the church. ● Connect students into discipleship opportunities and relationships within the church body. ● Invite and equip congregants to provide hospitality, mentorship, and discipleship of college students with the aim of sending them out as leaders in their spheres of influence. ● Support the overarching goals and efforts of the entire church by being an active part of the staff team and maintaining a servant-leadership mentality in all aspects of ministry. ● Recruit and develop students to serve on Christ Church's Sunday ministry teams (children's ministry, youth ministry, worship ministry, welcome team, hospitality, etc.) ● Foster "adopt-a-student" relationships between Christ Church families and UC Berkeley students. ● Foster undergrad and graduate student relationships with a view toward vocational discipleship and mentorship. Leadership Development ● Develop and mobilize student leaders to co-labor in the on campus fellowship, evangelism, and Bible studies. ● Disciple and mobilize leaders among students at UC Berkeley and Christ Church East Bay to live out their faith in service and evangelism. Ministry Context & Partnership ● Steward a positive relationship with Christ Church East Bay that promotes long-lasting ministry in partnership with CCO. ● Attend regular Christ Church East Bay staff meetings. ● Support and participate in Christ Church young adults ministry. ● Connect students to faith and work initiatives, trainings, events, and cohorts offered by the church. ● Galvanize students to participate in community service projects and events with the church. Other Projects & Duties Assigned ● Participate in all required CCO Training. ● Report ministry outcomes through CCO Mid-Year/Year-End Reflections and Annual Campus Stats documents. ● Pray regularly and frequently for the ministry of the CCO. ● Exceed 100% of support raising ministry goals. ● Because Christ Church is a small church with a relatively small staff, you may be asked, from time to time, to perform tasks outside of your job description in furtherance of the church's mission, goals, and needs
REQUIREMENTS Education ● Bachelor's Degree required. Masters preferred.
