Job Overview
The Care Pastor provides leadership and oversight for the pastoral care ministry of Peace Church, ensuring that members and families receive biblical support in times of crisis, grief, and need.
This position includes pastoral counseling, visitation, funeral officiation, crisis response, senior ministry, and care-related programs. Additionally, this pastor equips volunteers and church leaders to develop a culture of gospel-driven care within the congregation.

Qualifications
SPIRITUAL & THEOLOGICAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Has a solid and growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Fully embraces Peace Church's theology and statements of faith, mission, and values.
• Demonstrates a clear calling to pastoral care ministry, with a heart for shepherding people through biblical truth.
• Willing to enter and able to complete the Peace Church ordination process.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in pastoral ministry, chaplaincy, or a related field required.
• Required bachelor's degree in pastoral ministry, biblical counseling, or theology.
• Has strong counseling and crisis care experience, with a biblical approach to grief, suffering, and encouragement.
• Has ability to lead and equip teams for pastoral care ministry, able to chair Zone Elder meetings.
• Demonstrates skill in communication, administration, and relational ministry.
• Proficient with email, scheduling tools, Planning Center Online, and Asana.

Responsibilities
PASTORAL CARE LEADERSHIP

Lead the Zone Elders and their meetings, setting the agenda, providing training, equpping, resourcing, assisting, and hold these men accountable for their responsibilities.

Serve as the primary leader for hospital, homebound, and crisis visitations, offering biblical encouragement, prayer, and spriritual support.

Utilizing the Zone Elders for support, develop and maintain a care follow-up system to ensure continued connections with those in need.

Encourage and equip the church to care for one another, championing care initiatives and serving as a model for shepherding.

Lead church member disciplinary issues with support from the Zone Elders.

Along with the pastoral team, officiate weddings and provide pre-marital counseling.

Able to participate in worship services through hosting, praying, serving communion.

This is not a preaching position but must be willing to preach up to two times a year if the needs arise.

FUNERALS AND CRISIS SUPPORT

Serve as the primary officiant for funerals, graveside, and memorial services, offering biblical comfort and guidance for those grieving over death and loss.

Assist grieving families with funeral planning, provide pastoral support, and ensure long-term care follow-ups.

Serve as the first line of crisis response and support for the church family.
SENIOR AND SHUT-IN MINISTRY

Oversee and develop Senior Ministry programs and events that provide discipleship, care, and community for older adults.

Ensure seniors and shut-ins receive pastoral visits, meal support, and practical assistance.
COUNSELING AND SUPPORT GROUPS

Lead the counseling ministries of Peace Church, offering biblical and pastoral wisdom and support. Provide pastoral counseling to individuals and families experiencing grief, life transitions, or personal crises.

Oversee and facilitate GriefShare, recovery groups, divorce care, and other care-related ministries, events, and programs.

Develop care-focused groups as needs arise (e.g., widow/widower support, parenting through hardship, etc.).

Partner with the Community team to integrate care ministry into spiritual growth and community group initiatives.
MINISTRY COORDINATION & ADMINISTRATIVE OVERSIGHT

Track and manage pastoral care requests, ensuring timely follow-up and documentation, and utilize Zone Elders to assist in member care.

Use Planning Center, Asana, and other church tools to coordinate care efforts.

Collaborate with staff, elders, and deacons to strengthen church-wide care systems.

Participate in staff meetings, retreats, and key ministry discussions.
