Job Description
Key Responsibilities
The Children's Minister leads the NYCAC's Children Ministries by providing Biblical leadership in education, worship, evangelism, and discipleship, working with and cooperating with lay leaders under the direction of the Senior Pastors. A pastoral team member, he/she will enable the church's children's ministries to thrive and flourish while equipping parents and families to carry out the God-given Vision and Mission of NYCAC.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings
- Fully embrace the mission, vision, and values of NYCAC
Ministry Responsibilities
- Develop spiritual vision, goals, and objectives for Children's Ministry in alignment with NYCAC's overall vision
- Assess needs and develop responsive programs and activities
- Preach to and teach children and families
- Serve as a motivating mentor to children and parents
- Create a supportive and spiritually nurturing environment
- Provide pastoral care and discipleship for children and families
- Welcome and assimilate newcomers and their families
- Assist in broader pastoral duties (baptism, communion, weddings, etc.)
- Lead Vacation Bible School and child dedication ceremonies
- Uphold C&MA authority and pursue licensing/ordination as applicable
Staff Supervision and Development
- Identify and develop lay leaders and volunteers
- Oversee recruitment, training, and evaluation of staff and volunteers
- Foster effective teamwork with volunteers and leaders
Administration
- Create and implement strategic goals and ministry calendar
- Manage annual ministry budget
- Respond to communications and build external partnerships
- Plan outreach initiatives and service opportunities

Evaluation and Compensation
- Regular meetings with Senior Pastor
- Submit annual reports and participate in evaluations by the Senior Pastor and Governing Board
