This church is looking to get younger and engage in the outreach of young families. This role will be a critical piece in that transition. The facilities are ready for updating and resources are poised and available to reshape it for a new season of ministry. It will require someone with vision, passion, and leadership to help propel Oakland Baptist into a new growth phase.

The ideal candidate will be:

• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a passion for ministry to children. The candidate must affirm the doctrinal statement of our church.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred (e.g., Children’s Ministry, Christian Education, etc.).
• Experience in children’s ministry leadership.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment and maintain a positive perspective.
• Basic computer software skills preferably Microsoft Office, Planning Center, ProPresenter, and ability to learn new tools quickly.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Development & Management:

• Develop, implement, and oversee programs for nursery through sixth grade, including Sunday morning programs, Wednesday night programs, summer programs, and special events.
• Develop, implement, and oversee programs for young families, especially those of nursery through sixth-grade children.
• Coordinate with the Minister of Education to choose appropriate curriculums that align with the church’s values and beliefs.

Leadership & Team Building:

• Recruit, train, and support children’s ministry volunteers.
• Hold regular meetings to communicate the vision and encourage children to volunteer workers

Pastoral Care:

• Provide pastoral care to children and their families, as appropriate.
• Ensure all programs provide safe, age-appropriate activities and teaching.

Outreach:

• Develop outreach programs to bring more children and young families into the church.
• Collaborate with local schools and organizations for potential partnerships.Administration:

• Manage the children’s ministry budget.
• Ensure all children’s ministry staff and volunteers are properly screened and have undergone background checks.
• Ensure that the child check-in system operates in a way that safeguards our children and works in cooperation with the overall security system of the church.
• Oversee the nursery coordinator and nursery workers.
• Maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children and families.
