This part-time position (approximately 20 hours/week) will report directly to the Senior Pastor of Concord Baptist Church. Successful completion of reference and criminal background check required. The Children/Youth Director at Concord Baptist Church will provide leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating a Christ-centered ministry for PreK – 12th grade. This part-time position (approximately 20 hours/week) will report directly to the Senior Pastor of Concord Baptist Church. Successful completion of reference and criminal background check required. Qualifications:
The candidate must:
- Have a strong dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ demonstrated through regular prayer, Bible study, and worship attendance.
- Articulate a clear call from God to Christian ministry focused on children and teenagers.
- Be passionate about reaching children and youth for Jesus Christ.
- Be committed to learning and discipleship.
- Commit to relational ministry with students, parents, and church leaders.
- Effectively communicate and connect with multiple generations for the purpose of evangelism and discipleship.
- Be an effective team player who partners well with staff, students, and their families.
- Possess a willingness to minister in a rural setting.
- Be able to lead and work with parents and/or volunteers.
- Possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Teach scripture in a manner that is biblically sound and culturally relevant.
- Fully commit to the mission, vision, and values of Concord Baptist Church.
- Agree and adhere to the constitution & by-laws of Concord Baptist Church.
Preferred but not required:
- Degree in a student ministry-related field of study (Biblical Studies, Christian Education, or Youth Ministry) and/or proven track record of leading successful children and/or youth ministry.
- A minimum of two years experience in children and/or youth ministry.
Responsibilities (In consultation with the Senior Pastor):
Develop and implement a vision and ministry plan for a sustainable comprehensive ministry to students, families, and volunteers, including:
- Opportunities for discipleship, worship, ministry, evangelism, and fellowship; including but not limited to:
- Lead weekly mid-week gatherings
- Participate in Sunday morning activities
- Lead service Projects
- Lead other opportunities as they arise (i.e., lock-ins, retreats, mission trips)
- Connecting and immersing children/youth into the ministry of Concord Baptist Church.
- The recruitment, equipping, and empowering of volunteers.
- Oversee and ensure all volunteers are compliant with mandatory safety and security protocols.
- Participation in regular meetings with Pastor, Church Leadership, and Parents.
- Networking with area/regional ministries who share similar ministry purpose/vision.
Develops and oversees policies and procedures for an effective children’s and youth ministry.
Manages administrative needs of children’s and youth ministries (budget, event calendaring, etc.)
Receive and maintain all mandatory safety, CPR, and first-aid training.
Children’s Ministry (Pre-K – Grade 5)
Develop and implement a discipleship strategy that assists children (PreK-Grade 5) to grow spiritually.
Lead the Children’s Ministry Team to plan and execute ministry.
Recruit (as needed) and develop a ministry team of effective volunteers who strive for excellence in children’s development.
Encourage and foster healthy relationships with the children’s families.
Plan and participate in regular and special events that involve children’s ministry, including participation in Vacation Bible School (VBS).
Oversee publicity with the church, and communication of children’s ministry to parents, church family, and community.
Youth Ministry (Middle and High School)
Develop and implement a discipleship strategy that assists youth (6th-12th grade) to grow spiritually.
Recruit and develop a ministry team of effective volunteers to minister students.
Develop and provide oversight to a strategy for identifying the specific needs of both middle school and high school students and determine how Concord Baptist Church youth ministries can best meet these needs.
Develop and implement an outreach strategy for youth ministries.
Develop and implement intentional events designed to build community, reach new youth, and develop students spiritually.
Oversee publicity with the church, and communication of youth ministry to parent, church family, and community.
Concord Baptist Church will provide:
