JOB DESCRIPTION
PRINCIPLE FUNCTION:
The Director of Children's Ministry will develop, implement, and coordinate ministry to children (ages birth – 5th grade) and their parents. The director will oversee and help implement the strategy for discipleship for children and young families and help them integrate and become involved in the life and mission of First Baptist Church of Dallas, GA.
The Director of Children's Ministry will serve under the supervision of the Senior Pastor and will work in collaboration with the Student and Family Minister in the continuing development of a Christian family ministry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Work with staff, Executive Council and appropriate committees and teams to provide spiritually led, age-appropriate programs for the children of the Church.
2. Establish goals and objectives to assist in the review, evaluation, and enhancement of the Children's Ministry.
3. Recruit, train and motivate volunteers for leadership and service.
4. Plan, coordinate, and implement a yearly calendar in conjunction with the Church calendar and in collaboration with all ministries.
5. Review and recommend appropriate curriculum to ensure effective Sunday Morning and Wednesday Night programs that teach, reach, and minister to the children of the Church in collaboration with the Student and Family Minister.
6. Provide an exciting and effective Children's Worship experience.
7. Recruit leadership to ensure that volunteers are scheduled for nursery and extended session during the worship service and special events.
8. Develop and implement comprehensive activities for children including VBS.
9. Prepare a budget and make recommendations to the Budget & Finance Committee concerning expenses for Children's Ministry.
10. Order supplies for approved activities in accordance with the proper procedures of the Budget and Finance Committee.
11. Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor, Executive Council or Personnel Committee.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Personal
a. Firm personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
b. Strong leadership, organizational, administrative, and motivational skills
2. Professional
a. Has expressed and demonstrated a call to ministry to children (birth-5th grades) and families.
b. Experience around children and family ministry (2-5 years preferred)
c. Ability to connect relationally with parents and children
d. Ability and willingness to live in and develop community relationships locally in accordance with our church vision.
e. A passion to create an environment for spiritual growth in children and their families
f. Strong abilities and experience in equipping leaders and working with teams
g. A willingness and ability to pioneer new things and inspire others to new initiatives
h. Good teaching ability and communication skills
i. Ability to make a creative contribution to the total church program.
j. Ministerial concern for all persons connected with children ministries.
k. Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people of all ages.
l. Ability to pass a background check.
3. Continue to grow professionally as a leader and minister.
a. Remain abreast of current developments in children ministry by maintaining contact with other churches and professional groups.
b. Be active in professional development through continuing education, reading current literature, and participating in professional organizations.
4. Education:
a. High School Diploma is required.
b. Bachelor's Degree or higher is preferred, however experience in related ministry may be substituted.
