Job Description

Overall

  • Work with staff, volunteers and participants to maintain the facility as a safe, orderly, clean and attractive environment  
  • Maintain office duties
  • Be prepared to teach & pray biblically with participants and offer spiritual counsel when appropriate
  • Assist in maintaining the overall supplies of the house and programs
  • Work to clean and maintain building and property each day
  • Other duties as directed

Talitha Koum Program (children’s program)

  • Plan & lead daily operations–including the schedule, meals, activities, Bible study, volunteers, chores, etc.
  • Care for children in program while encouraging and guiding volunteers with respect and care in a Christ-like way and in accordance with the Statement of Faith
  • Establish regular communication with parents with the intent of building relationships and trust, as well as determining needs/wants and encouraging families in their day-to-day lives
  • Establish a healthy relationship with the local schools
  • Recruit new students through regular neighborhood and school outreach 
  • Maintain registration and waiver records
  • Assist in the coordination of the annual Christmas Toy Store and Back-to-School Drive
  • Develop a family outreach/home visit plan for families in the program

MercyWorks Program (mercy ministries program)

  • Oversee the regular operation of the food pantry, clothing closet and furniture ministry
  • Coordinate volunteers who drop off food, deliver to neighbors, sort food, pick up/deliver furniture etc.
  • Do a weekly inventory of the pantry to determine what food/supplies are needed 
  • Maintain regular contact with community sources of in-kind donations (Rescue Mission, Food Lion, etc.)
  • Manage the food pantry, clothing closet and furniture ministry database 
  • Coordinate the holiday food drives (Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas)
  • Participate in regular food handler training and inter-agency meetings
  • Maintain “intake forms” and work with interns/staff to make proper referrals to community resources
  • Coordinate the discarding of bad food, cardboard, unneeded clothing, furniture and trash
  • Communicate needs for the program
