The Oak Grove Church of Roxboro (OGCOR) Children’s and Youth Pastor/ Director will be responsible for the leadership and coordination of all children and youth programs from PreK-12th Grade; They will be responsible for the Sunday Children’s worship program, as well as the Sunday evening Youth Group ministries. The OGCOR Children’s and Youth Pastor/Director will also provide strategic direction and vision to develop and improve children’s and youth ministries, including the recruitment and training of volunteers and the care and ministry for our children and youth throughout the week. This candidate will work under the supervision of the Senior Pastor.

The goal of the Children’s and Youth Pastor/Director at OGCOR is to make disciples of our children and youth and to pass on to the next generation of believers the faith, truths, and skills from God’s Word. Under the direction of the Senior Pastor and Leadership Team, the Children’s and Youth Pastor/Director will ensure that all programs, volunteer development, and administrations are carried out at the highest possible level to the glory of God.

Job Description

Existing Weekly Programs:

Sunday School: Toddlers – 12th Grade (during main service worship time possible Children worship time) (2 classes and a nursery room) (10-15 children)

The Children and Youth Group: Every third Sunday Evening (for now), gathering for Elementary School through High School students (8-14)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide oversight of all students (PreK-12th Grade) and volunteers. Assure classrooms and events maintain a balanced program of spiritual, physical, personal, and social growth and development.

2. Secure and create age-appropriate resources for all classroom levels. Find resources to train teachers to be effective and prepared. 3. Plan and implement a variety of youth and children’s ministry events and programs consistent with the fulfillment of the vision and growth of the church.

4. Assist the Senior Pastor/Leadership Team in responding to the needs of the youth, children, and their families.

5. Connect with parents to offer formal and informal support, training, discipleship, or congregational support.

6. Help Teach Youth on Sundays and Youth Group on Sunday evenings.

7. Occasional preaching, as scheduled with the Senior Pastor.

8. Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

Preferred Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelor’s in Ministry and/or Seminary degree with a concentration in Children/Youth Christian education preferred

• Strong Biblical Knowledge and ability to communicate it to all ages • Demonstrates experience in developing and managing creative and engaging ministry programs for children, youth, and young adults

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Comfortable with the use of social media, texting, and apps to communicate and connect with young adults and families with children/youth

• Skilled in using computer office software applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary: $40K per year

Salary is to be adjusted based on work experience and/or seminary training

This position is a full-time position for one candidate who meets all the requirements, but we would consider a part-time position for two different candidates to share the work responsibilities based on the individual’s abilities and strengths
