Children’s Director/Pastor
Do you have a desire to help kids grow up to be like Jesus? Are you creative, engaging, and relational? Woodland Community Church, in Bradenton Florida, is seeking a full time Children's Director/Pastor. This individual is responsible for leading, overseeing, and developing the ministry to children birth through 5th Grade. A Bachelors' Degree in education or ministry preferred, with experience in Children's Ministry or equivalent required.
Duties and Responsibilities:• Create and cast vision for the Children's ministry of Woodland Community Church that ties into the overall church's mission• Formulate a strategy for the children's ministry to accomplish the goals and mission that align with the overall church's goals and mission• Train, develop, and equip coordinators to achieve success in their area of supervision. This includes weekly meetings, quarterly evaluations, and yearly conferences• Responsible to oversee, plan, organize, and delegate responsibilities for all aspects of children's ministry. This includes managing, supporting, and working with children's ministry coordinators to ensure that all tasks are performed• Develop and/or choose a curriculum to be used for Sunday mornings. This includes both large and small group lessons for all age groups up through 5th grade. The curriculum needs to be in line with the beliefs of Woodland Community Church
• Responsible to oversee, plan, delegate staff, and or lead/ teach the weekly large group services for Birth-5th grade. This includes room decoration, selecting worship songs, reviewing and editing weekly lessons, game selection, writing/editing videos, interactive and engaging Bible teaching, video selection, and ensuring the technical aspects of the service are covered (lights, audio, video, etc.)• Responsible to teach, delegate teaching, and oversee the teaching for children's environments including large group, small group, VBS, Wednesday Nights Programing, and any special events• Assist and supervise children's ministry coordinators to recruit, train and shepherd volunteer leaders• Along with the Preschool Coordinator, partner with Woodland's Preschool Academy for the hiring of paid childcare workers for events or ministries• Build relationships with children and their parents who are associated with the Woodland Academy, Woodland's weekday educational program, in an effort to help them grow spiritually and engage them in children's ministries within the church• Partner with parents in the discipleship of their children in the Lord through regular clear communication, and providing biblical resources, training, and counseling• Plan, organize, recruit, and promote ongoing events and activities in the children's ministry, which includes any monthly events, special theme Sundays, and twice a year community outreach events (Easter and Fall)• Plan, organize, recruit, and manage activities for children during summer months (examples include Vacation Bible School, Children's Camp, etc.)• Responsible to develop or choose curriculum and teach child dedication classes to parents with the aim to prepare and quip them to raise their child with the support of the church and in the discipline and instruction of the Lord• Responsible to meet with parents regarding child baptism to ensure understanding of genuine salvation and to prepare and equip parents to disciple their child in a growing relationship with the Lord• Partner with Student Ministry and its leaders to align the age group ministry to better serve the families within the church and community• Partner with Missions Ministry to seek opportunities for children and families to be on mission. In addition to opportunities to serve the community through the children's ministry• Seek to integrate children, parents, and leaders into the life of the church and facilitate genuine relationships throughout the ministry
Other Duties May Include:• Continuing to learn ministry skills and understanding cultural concerns related to students• Ability to supervise people and motivate them to perform their duties well• Recommend and oversee the annual budget for Children's Ministries• Participate in weekly staff meetings.• Assist other ministries when needed• Be involved in the Family Ministries by assisting in events and participating in bi-weekly staff meetings• Pray with, minister to, or counsel persons attending ministry activities• Preach for the Senior Pastor when needed (if qualified)• Preform Pastoral duties when needed (if qualified)• Weekly database entry as needed• Have a physical presence during Sunday mornings to engage others to volunteer or participate in the ministry• Develop yearly goals to guide the ministry forward to achieve the mission• Have dedicated office hours• Other duties as may be assigned by my supervisor and Senior Pastor
Qualifications:· A bachelor's degree or equivalent job experience· Must be able to clearly articulate and able to share the Gospel in both a public and personal setting· Love for people and children· Good organizational skills· Ability to supervise people and motivate them to perform their duties well· Computer skills, such as Word, Outlook, Excel· Good written and verbal communications skills· Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment· Ability to balance workloads and juggle several projects at once· Ability to view the job as ministry
