TITLE: Children's Minister (Courageous Kids)

REPORTS TO: Lead Pastor

Summary

The Children's Minister leads Courageous Kids (birth–5th grade) to make disciples who love Jesus and bring gospel transformation into their homes and community. This role builds a volunteer-powered ministry with strong parent partnership, safe systems, and age-aligned teaching that flows naturally into our student ministry. You will own the weekly experience (Sunday & Wednesday), the volunteer pipeline, parent communication, and the safety & check-in ecosystem, partnering closely with Connections Pastor and volunteer leaders for a seamless path for children to be discipled and families to grow in the church collectively. Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Duties

  • Weekly Services & Midweek — Plan and execute Sunday & Wednesday kids environments; manage rooms, ratios, supplies, and Proclaim slides; ensure gospel-centered, age-appropriate teaching and prayer.
  • Volunteer Team — Recruit, onboard, schedule, and coach small‑group leaders and classroom volunteers; provide shadowing and bite‑size trainings; cultivate a fun, safe, disciple‑making culture.
  • Parent Partnership — Keep parents informed and equipped through a monthly email, Grow Curriculum parent resources, milestone celebrations, and a visible "What We're Learning" presence on-site and online.
  • Safety & Check‑Ins — Own Planning Center Check‑Ins (security labels, pickup policies), room ratios, and incident logs; ensure mandatory reporting awareness and background checks and training are current for all team members (including renewals).
  • Assimilation & Follow‑Up — Track new families; coordinate with Connections on next steps (groups, membership, serving); follow up with absent or at‑risk families with care and clarity.
  • Communication & Admin — Maintain Planning Center Services plans and People lists/workflows; manage kids budget and receipts; keep curriculum tubs and supply bins current; maintain clean, welcoming rooms and signage.
  • Media Ownership — Oversee kids' service media (Proclaim slides, videos, and digital tools) ensuring clarity, excellence, and consistency with TGFC style.
  • Weekly Reporting — Provide weekly data to Lead Pastor/Admin (attendance by service, "Missed Last Sunday," "At‑Risk," and "Gone" families) with brief action notes.

Secondary Duties

  • Camps & Events — Plan, budget, and staff events such as Family Dedication, Kids Camp, and seasonal outreach.
  • Quarterly Core Leader Meetings — Host quarterly CK leader huddles for training, encouragement, and ministry review.
  • Recruitment Partnerships — Collaborate with the Next‑Gen Minister and Connections team to build volunteer and family pipelines.
  • Supplies & Facility Readiness — Manage snacks, crafts, and curriculum supplies; handle weekly lost‑and‑found resets; ensure rooms are clean, safe, and joyful.

  • Proven ability to recruit, train, schedule, and encourage volunteers.
  • Skilled, clear communicator with parents, leaders, and kids.
  • Committed to child safety best practices, including mandatory reporting, background checks, incident documentation, and annual refreshers.
  • Collaborative and adaptable; eager to improve systems and environments for greater impact.

Preferred Experience

  • Have led in children's ministry, education, counseling, or related leadership.
  • Familiarity with parent‑partnership strategies and milestone planning.
  • Competency in using technology and office software to support ministry activities.
  • Experience leading camps, family events, and/or special needs ministry.

  • Planning Center: People (lists/workflows/notes), Services (plans/teams), Check‑Ins (attendance/security).
  • Proclaim (slides/media for kids environments).
  • Email/newsletter tools like Gloo and Mailchimp for parent communication.

Schedule & Requirements

  • Sundays and Wednesdays required; camps/events as scheduled.
  • Work week is Sunday-Thursday.
  • Some meetings, hospital/home visits, and leader huddles as needed.
  • Compliance with TGFC child safety policies and leadership expectations.
