Job Description:
City Hope Fellowship is seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Ministry Coordinator to join our team. This part-time position (10-15 hours per week) plays a vital role in facilitating the spiritual growth of our youngest members by recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers, managing children's church and nursery, and ensuring a safe and engaging environment for our children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Volunteer Management:
- Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for nursery and children's church.
- Use Planning Center to develop and maintain a schedule of volunteers to ensure adequate coverage for all children's ministry activities.
- Provide ongoing support and recognition for volunteers to encourage retention and satisfaction.
- Provide Volunteers with all materials necessary to be successful in discipling our Kids through children's church and nursery.
- Children's Ministry Team Leadership:
- Lead a children's ministry team to oversee and evaluate the curriculum.
- Submit the curriculum to the Elders to ensure that it aligns with the church's mission and values.
- Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss goals, progress, and improvements.
- Policy and Procedure Maintenance:
- Update and maintain policies and procedures related to security, child safety, nursery, and children's church.
- Ensure all policies comply with local regulations and best practices for child safety.
- Implement a system for managing fill-ins and substitutes for nursery and children's church.
- Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to children's ministry.
- Regularly communicate with the church community about children's ministry events, updates, and needs.
- Create and distribute newsletters, emails, and other communication materials to keep parents and volunteers informed.
- Management of Paid Staff:
- Supervise and manage college students who are paid Sunday morning children's church teachers.
- Ensure paid staff adhere to the church's policies and deliver high-quality instruction and care.
- Staff Meetings:
- Attend regular staff meetings to collaborate with other church leaders and align children's ministry goals with the broader church mission.
- Provide updates and insights from the children's ministry perspective.
Position Qualifications:
- A strong commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with the mission and values of City Hope Fellowship.
- Previous experience in children's ministry or a related field.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficiency in using or a willingness to learn Planning Center.
- Ability to coordinate volunteers and work behind the scenes to give space for volunteers to focus on loving and discipling our children.
- Background check and child safety training required.
