Children’s Ministry Director/Administrative Assistant

General Description Oversee the ministry to children (infants to 5th grade) under the direction of the Associate Pastor of Families Embrace the ministry philosophy that God has given parents the primary responsibility to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord and equip volunteers to come alongside parents in that aim Although the ministry will include various programs, the emphasis will be on classroom training preparing children to see the Gospel in each Bible story and all of life Averaging roughly 20 hours per week (which includes 10 on site hours) Assist the Pastoral Staff with Administrative Needs Desirable Qualifications Has a vibrant walk with Christ & embraces the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 Genuinely loves children, and has a passion for ministry to children & their families Skilled in communication with children & adults, with a personable demeanor Skilled in administration, grammar, & organization Capable of recruiting, training & overseeing paid & volunteer staff Responsibilities Implement and enforce BBC's Child Protection Policy Recruit, train and oversee paid & volunteer staff... o In the Nursery, where we provide safe, caring and welcoming environments for 0-3 year olds on Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, and for Special Events o In Children's Church on Sunday mornings, where we provide a lesson for 4-year-olds through first graders, and help prepare them to participate fully in the worship service o In Children's Sunday School classes o In conjunction with staff for Wednesday nights and other discipleship opportunities o To be the Point Person on Sunday mornings, who greet & welcome visitors, help folks find the right classroom, and troubleshoot any issues that arise Develop, implement & oversee annual events, such as: Easter Egg Hunt, Summer Events, Fall Festival & potentially a Christmas Program. Organize and lead a Vacation Bible School in conjunction with VBS committee Research & recommend curriculum choices to Pastor for all aspects of the ministry Keep attendance records & maintain an active roster for children, members, and visitors Purchase supplies/equipment as needed Attend weekly church staff meetings Edit bulletins, prayer lists, and other church communication publications (i.e., weekly emails, announcement flyers) Manage the Senior Pastor's Calendar Call people to set up appointments on behalf of the Senior Pastor Return voicemails and emails on behalf of the church Mail items to shut-ins and others in the church who need physical copies Manage social media accounts Track and prepare annual reports for Georgia Baptist Convention and church budget If applying, please address these two things in a brief cover letter: 1) How does someone know they are a Christian? 2) What makes for good volunteer recruiting and retention?
