Children’s Ministry Director
Position Summary:
Central Baptist Church is excited to announce to begin the search for the next high capacity leader to join our team. We are looking for a passionate Kids Leader who loves Jesus, loves kids (and their families), and is able to joyfully build a team to reach kids and their families with the good news. Our ideal candidate will have the heart, experience, and skill set to partner with families and inspire children for a lifetime adventure of following Jesus.
Purpose: Provide leadership and oversight to all related responsibilities of the Kindergarten through fifth grade ministry; help equip parents to be the primary spiritual leaders in their homes; and partner with Central in reaching our local community with the good news.
General Responsibilities:
- Agreement and Alignment with the statement of faith and vision of Central Baptist Church.
- Considers Central Baptist Church their church home, and regularly attends Sunday worship services, activities, events, and is connected in and invested in the Central community.
- Being an invested and committed team member of the Central staff who participates in all necessary staff meetings and activities.
- Fulfillment of other duties or needs as assigned by supervisor.
Central Kids Responsibilities
- Provide vision, leadership, and spiritual equipping for the children, parents and families at Central that aligns with and executes the overall vision of Central Baptist Church
- Prioritize the needs and relationships of the families of Central while strategically reaching and connecting with unbelieving/unchurched families in our surrounding community.
- Daily management and decision making for the Central Children's ministry.
- Recruit, Train, Lead, and Encourage a dynamic team of parents and volunteers.
- Create an unforgettable kid's ministry environment that compels guests to come back, inspires kids to a lifetime adventure of walking with Jesus.
- Collaborate with our Staff as well as Next Gen teams on strategic, kingdom-minded initiatives to multiply our impact in the city and reach more people for Jesus.
- Develop and evaluate all the teaching content, curriculum, and environments to accomplish the goals and objectives of Central kids.
- Help children and families take next steps of growth
- Design, implement, oversee, manage, and improve upon ministry programming, offerings, teaching and staffing for Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.
- Develop and oversee an annual ministry plan, calendar and budget for the children's ministry and operate within that budget, as well as oversee, organize, and steward all children's ministry resources.
- Design, plan, and prepare, for special events and experiences that reach and grow children and families in Christ (examples: VBS, Family movie nights, etc.)
- Develop, utilize, and improve upon systems and tools to help recruit, oversee, engage, and communicate with children, parents and those who serve in the children's ministry.
- Keep current with trends, needs, and tools that impact children and families.
- Partner with parents in supporting them with the spiritual formation of their children.
- Regular evaluation and implementation of safety policies and practices. Consistent communication to parents and volunteers related to schedules, curriculum and other events, opportunities and needs.
- Help kids with special abilities to be successful in the Central Kids ministry environments by partnering with families.
- Collaborate with assigned staff on providing social media posts and resources.
- Collaborate with the Preschool Ministry, Student ministry, and Sports Ministry.
Personal Qualifications:
- A vibrant and active walk with Jesus.
- 3-5 years experience serving children and their families in a leadership role.
- Healthy priorities in your life (spiritual life, family life, community life, etc.)
- Proven ability to lead staff and volunteers.
- Demonstrates healthy relationships, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for children and families and a strong drive to help strengthen their faith in Christ and become a disciple-making disciple.
- A proven ability to work well with children, parents, volunteers and staff.
- Able to recruit, train and develop volunteers and teams.
- Is a self-starter who takes initiative for their areas of responsibility.
- Is a team player, who values collaboration.
- Good verbal and written communication.
- Ability and willingness to learn new technology skills.
- Background and education in children's education, children's ministry or related field preferred.
