Children’s Ministry Director
Position SummaryConnection Church, Mount Pleasant is seeking a Children's Ministry Director for children birth – grade 5. The ideal candidate will carry forward the vision of the church: Connecting Children and Families to Jesus for Life. This part time, 20 hours/week, position has the potential to grow to full time with additional responsibilities over the next 5 years. The Children's ministry director will report to the Senior Pastor. The primary responsibilities include Children's Church and weekly Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School in the summer. Secondary responsibilities may include supervising and supporting volunteers for childcare during weekly prayer meetings and the occasional community outreach event. Children's Ministry Director will be responsible for recruiting, vetting and training all volunteers. The ideal candidate will ensure our church is a safe, engaging and Christ-centered environment for children to learn and grow in their faith.
Key Responsibilities· Plan and lead Children's Church on Sunday mornings, including worship, teaching, and activities.· Coordinate weekly Sunday School and be available to teachers and volunteers during class to assist and provide resources.· Provide lesson plans, ensure age-appropriate curriculum and discipleship, and communicate any specific instructions to volunteer teachers in advance of each class.· Review, implement, and suggest improvements to existing nursery protocols and procedures, and assume responsibility under the Senior Pastor for safety and care of infants and toddlers.· Develop and implement Vacation Bible School (VBS) programs, including theme selection, volunteer recruitment, scheduling, and budgeting.· Under the guidance of the Senior Pastor conduct pre-baptism counseling within the age group of children's ministries.· With the support of the Senior Pastor, recruit, train, schedule, and supervise volunteers for all children's ministry activities.· Ensure compliance with child safety policies, including background checks and abuse prevention training.· Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding ministry events and child development milestones.· Monitor Children's Ministry expenses to ensure all events and all areas of responsibility are within budget or if there are overages, approved by the Senior Pastor.· Submit an annual budget proposal with rationale that includes an outreach and discipleship plan which aligns with the ministry goals and budgetary means of the church.· Additional responsibilities may involve childcare and/or programming for non-Sunday weekday events generally associated with holidays and special occasions.
Qualifications· Associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood development, education or related is desired.· Personal relationship with Jesus Christ, commitment to the mission of the church, and close alignment to the church's doctrine.· Experience in children's ministry leadership and event planning (including VBS).· Strong communication and organizational skills.· Ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers effectively.· Completion of background check and abuse prevention training.
Schedule & ReportingPrimary schedule includes Sunday mornings (Children's Church at 9:00 AM and Sunday School at 10:30 AM) and additional planning time during the week for VBS and other events. Attend staff and planning meetings. Reports directly to the Senior Pastor.
