Description
The replanting of New Albany Advent Christian Church will exist to be a Christ-centered community committed to dynamic worship, Bible-based teaching, fellowship and spreading of the gospel throughout New Albany. The church planter will lead the remnant from New Albany Advent Christian Church in addition to gathering and growing a launch team to carry out and support the work in New Albany.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A recognized level of theological training
- Evidence of a committed, mature, and deepening relationship with Jesus Christ
- Will reflect the biblical qualifications for overseer in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 as well as a spirit of humility and servanthood called for in Matthew 20:25- 28 and I Peter 5:1-4
- Clear preaching and teaching gifts
- Clear leadership attributes and organizational qualities
- Evident shepherding instincts and abilities
- Strong relational and communication skills
- Be able to affirm the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) Statement of Faith
- Be or be willing to pursue ordination
Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Church Planter will provide active guidance and leadership in the following areas:
Visionary: Lead the church by casting the vision for ministry and motivating others to fulfill the vision. Continually seek God's direction for engaging and cultivating a new church community that reflects God's Kingdom.
Leadership: Oversee and support the future staff and ministry leaders and deacons as they lead various ministries and functions on a regular basis. Guide future staff in goal setting, leadership development, and spiritual direction. Work alongside the Elder Board in implementing church structure in accordance with the constitution and bylaws. Lead the congregation with a servant heart and respect. Encourage, empower, and develop future church leaders.
Worship: Plan meaningful personal and corporate worship experiences that bring people into the presence of an awesome and Holy God. Provide Gospel-centered teaching and preaching based on Scripture. Coordinate with the worship leader, staff, and volunteers for worship services and special events. Celebrate by performing rites of passage, such as child dedications, baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
Prayer: Pray diligently for and with the church community. Seek God's direction in identifying and supporting those who need prayer.
Shepherding: Provide guidance and assistance to individuals in the church community. Exemplify compassion and love to all people and give counsel as needed. Guide leaders and others in the church to give care to those in need.
