Church Planting Resident

Job Overview

CCC is a non-denominational, multi-generational, gospel-centered church in the heart of Chesapeake, VA, a largely suburban city on the southern side of Hampton Roads. Among our church's distinctives are an emphasis on Christ-centered worship, building biblical community, personal discipleship, and active missions from our neighborhoods to the nations. We are a member of the Hampton Roads Consortium of Churches, a local coalition that shares similar history, vision, and theology, bound by a covenant of commitment and accountability. We are also members of the Harbor Network, partnering together in church planting efforts.

We are looking for a full-time Church Planting Resident to lead the development of a master plan for a local church plant while also preparing to be the church plant's pastor. Leading the church plant initiative includes the development of a launch team to be involved in the planning, training, and equipping of selected church members, elders, and essential ministry leaders for the new church. This would be accomplished with the support of CCC's existing pastoral staff, elders, and ministry teams.

Our church planting resident will initially be a member of our Centerpoint staff and participate on the elder board. In this environment, you will be able to work alongside our existing Centerpoint staff and elders, observing activities in all current ministries, learning through serving, growing through leadership opportunities, and being empowered and encouraged to develop ministries in the planted church consistent with the overall vision of CCC. Throughout this process, you will be coached, assessed, and supported toward the goal of successfully launching a new church plant.

Responsibilities at CCC will include overseeing our Home Group ministry by training new leaders, supporting existing leaders, and fostering the growth and multiplication of groups. Additionally, you will be developing and directing local outreach strategies and implementation for CCC that can serve to strengthen our congregation's involvement in outreach as well as serve the goal of planting a new church.

Parallel to serving at CCC in the above capacities, the resident will complete the Harbor Network's 2-year residency. The first Foundation Year will focus on developing the head and heart of the church planter, while the second Sending Year will center on moving the head and heart into the hands as the practical elements of the church plant come to the forefront.

While church planting timelines are difficult to quantify initially, our notional approach is to see the new church started at the end of the two-year residency, working toward full autonomy a year beyond that.
