Job Summary
The Church Replanter serves as a missionary-pastor sent to revitalize a struggling church in a Yampa, Colorado. This calling involves honoring the legacy of a historic congregation, leading with gospel hope, and reestablishing a vibrant gospel presence in a small-town, rural setting. The replanter will develop a faithful presence as they live and establish community in South Routt. The replanter will serve on staff with Anchor Way Church, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, under the leadership of its elder team. In addition to Anchor Way, the Replanter will partner with NAMB to shepherd, equip, and mobilize a replanting work that is both biblically faithful and missionary minded the unique dynamics of South Routt Colorado.
Key Responsibilities
Pastoral and Spiritual Leadership– Preach and teach Scripture with clarity, conviction, and pastoral warmth.– Shepherd the congregation, bringing together existing members and a newer core team. – Cast a vision for discipleship and help develop pathways for spiritual formation.
Missional Engagement in a Rural Context– Develop a contextual outreach strategy for a small town or rural region, building relationships through presence, service, and consistency.-Engage local community—schools, town boards, community groups, other churches & ministries, Non-profits and businesses,—for gospel influence.-Establish trust in the community through hospitality, visibility, and longevity.
Replanting Strategy and Transition-Lead a revitalization process that may include changes to the church's name, governance, ministries, and Sunday gatherings.-Discern and implement new rhythms of ministry that reflect both the churches Gospel mission and the community's needs.-Honor the church's heritage while courageously leading toward a renewed future.
Team Development and Volunteer Mobilization-Recruit and develop local leaders and volunteers—often lay-driven—to serve in pastoral care, teaching, hospitality, and outreach.-Empower a core team to serve faithfully even when resources are limited.-Cultivate partnerships with other churches to bring short-term teams or resources for seasons of need.
Partnership with NAMB and Local Networks-Complete NAMB's Church Replanter Assessment and participate in required training.-Work with associational leaders, replanting cohorts for coaching, encouragement, and accountability.-Submit periodic updates and stories of gospel advancement in the community.
Qualifications
-A strong sense of calling to pastoral ministry and a heart for dying or plateaued churches in rural America.-Endorsement by NAMB as a Church Replanter or willingness to complete the assessment process.-Agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) / Anchor Way's Faith Statement.-A missionary mindset with a high value for presence, patience, and persistence. Routt County is largely unchurched. -Proven leadership and relational capacity to work cross-generationally and build trust in traditional communities, while encouraging growth and gospel change.
Preferred Qualifications
-Experience in rural ministry, revitalization, or church planting.-An Undergrad in biblical studies or ministry or equivalent biblical training.-A comfort with mountain living. This includes long winters with LOTS of snow and living far from cities and many of their amenities (stores, chains, etc.)
Compensation
Full-Time, salaried with benefits. However, we are open to bi-vocational if it serves the pastor and the church well. FT Range is 50-75K plus great benefits, depending on experience and qualifications.
