The mission of Presbyterian Church of the Lakes (PCOL) is to reach our community with the love of Jesus Christ and teach the truth of God's Word. Our ministries are designed to encourage, engage, and equip the Body of Christ to serve others and spread the gospel.

One example of this mission in action is our Wednesday night Bible study and discussion group. This midweek gathering is open to both members and visitors and serves as a welcoming, low-pressure environment to explore Scripture, ask questions, and wrestle with real-life application. It encourages participants by creating space for honest conversation and mutual support, engages them through thoughtful, interactive teaching rooted in God's Word, and equips them to live out their faith more confidently in everyday life. We've seen visitors attend on a Wednesday night before ever stepping into a Sunday service, and members who felt disconnected reengage deeply through the relationships built in this setting.

This example reflects our broader vision: to be a church where the Word of God is clearly proclaimed, relationships are authentic, and every generation is welcomed, challenged, and equipped to live out their faith both within and beyond our church walls.

Spiritual Leadership: Preach the Word of God, ensuring meaningful worship for in-person and online attendees.

Learning and Teaching: Regularly explore and study God's word, sharing its richness and depth with the church. Partner with the Counseling Ministries Co-Pastor for consistent alignment. Oversee special studies and classes and actively lead the confirmation class.

Leadership, Relationships & Discipleship: Provide strong leadership by caring for the congregation and building cohesive relationships with members and staff. Listen, respond, and resolve church operation concerns.

Discipline: The pastor shall maintain regular discipline in reading, study, personal devotion, contemplation, prayer, keeping the Sabbath, and caring for self and family.

Visitation and Special Services: The pastor will partner with the Counseling Co-Pastor to visit members and their loved ones in hospitals, emergencies, and non-emergencies. They will regularly call and visit members and may visit prospective members, conduct marriages, and lead funerals.

Staff and Officers: The pastor will direct, oversee, and encourage the work of the church's professional and support staff daily, hold staff meetings, and delegate specific instructions to ensure efficient operation.

Presbytery & Community: The pastor will attend Presbytery meetings and actively participate in its work. They will also represent the church in community and ecumenical activities.
