Title: College Pastor

Supervisor: The College Pastor will be a member of the pastoral staff and report to and be supervised by the Discipleship Pastor on a day-to-day basis. Ultimate and final responsibility for determining the duties of this staff position, however, will be the Board of Elders collectively. An annual performance evaluation will be conducted by the Discipleship Pastor in consultation with the Personnel Committee.

Purpose: The College Pastor will have the primary responsibility of oversight of the college ministry program(s) at ABF. He will serve under the direction of the Mission Statement and Core Values of ABF. Serving as an equipper/facilitator/teacher, he will encourage the college students of ABF to be engaged in an intentional process of becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, encouraging service within the various ministries of the church.

Qualifications

· A committed Christian with a vital and growing walk – a man who himself is committed to leading a personal lifestyle of discipleship and worship.

· Education – An undergraduate or seminary degree in Bible or related fields (e.g., theology, pastoral studies, etc.) is required.

· Experience/Skills – Minimum of 5 years' experience (preferred) in leading and working with teams, strong administrative and organizational skills and gifts, persuasive interpersonal skills adaptable to a variety of personalities and situations.

· A Shepherd's Heart – A man who recognizes the importance of shepherding those under his care, training and equipping them for more effective service.

· In agreement with ABF Doctrinal Statement, and a willingness to be licensed or ordained.

· Meets the qualifications of an Elder (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1).

Duties and Responsibilities

· Lead in aligning ministry staff under his supervisory responsibilities with the ABF mission objectives established by the Elder Board.

· Coordinate Sunday night large group meeting. This includes serving as the primary teacher and providing oversight of the teaching and worship.

· Coordinate a college small group ministry.

· Connect students and members/families in the church. (Mentoring)

· Work with church leadership to plug students into service and leadership roles at ABF.

· Develop and coordinate the Student Leadership team and adult volunteers.

· Oversee follow-up for newcomers on Sundays.

· Meet regularly with students for counseling and discipleship.

· Maintain a visible presence on campus.

· Lead Fall and Spring Retreats.

· Lead or organize a summer mission trip as appropriate.

· Organize trips to conferences and events as appropriate.

· Coordinate and plan, along with a team, other activities to promote the mission and vision of Alliance College Connection. This includes socials, parties, service projects, etc.

· Represent Alliance College Connection at the monthly Campus Ministers Association meeting.

· Speak at campus ministries as appropriate (such as Cru, IV, RUF).

· Partner with other like-minded campus ministries for events as appropriate.

· Supervise the College Ministry Associate and any College Interns.

· Meet regularly with the Discipleship Pastor for discipleship, prayer and planning.

· Implement the High-Impact Volunteer Structure within his ministry teams.

· Attend Elder Meetings as appropriate to bring updates and seek input. Depending on tenure and experience, he may or may not serve as an Elder.

· Commit to excellence in all aspects of the ministry.

· Set and track specific, measurable goals for himself and his direct reports to ensure ministry/mission objectives are being achieved.

· Handle personnel conflicts and troubleshoot program and ministry challenges.

· Maintain Balanced Budgets for all areas of oversight.

Work Time: The College Pastor will necessarily have to work some evenings and other irregular hours in order to fulfill his responsibilities. He will attempt to schedule as much time as possible to be at the church during normal business hours, so as to be available to the body in general.

He will be on call as necessary for pastoral emergencies.
