Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Communications Director will create, organize, plan, and implement effective
communication strategies that serve in accomplishing the mission of the The Grove.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Learn, follow, and champion The Grove’s Brand Guidelines.
• Ensure the communications ministry remains on target with the church’s mission and vision by developing,
executing, and reporting on yearly objectives, monthly keys results and initiatives.
• Collaborate with church staff and ministry leaders to define, develop and effectively communicate messages
clearly, creatively, and effectively to church-wide and specific audiences.
• Influence leadership through forward thinking ideas and processes by presenting solutions for key strategic
projects.
• Provide reporting to internal teams and adjust communication plans based on church body engagement.
• Manage communications department budget.
• Manage workflow and schedule of multiple communications channels simultaneously.
• Develop a communications content calendar, using information provided by staff and ministry leaders, to
highlight the story of The Grove and inspire people to engage in ministry initiatives.
• Serves as air traffic controller, keeping communications requests on mission, time, and budget.
• Cultivate, lead, and manage a team of communications ministry contractors and volunteers (writers,
photographers, designers, creative collaborative, etc.).
• Grow and maintain a stock of photos and video (landscape and portrait) of our current church body.
• Grow, develop, and instruct a team of presenters (call to worship, announcements, scripture readers, etc.) for
weekend gatherings and special events.
• Execute production of Grove Stories in collaboration with Stories Director.
• Project Manage the aesthetic experience from the street to the seat for church-wide events and gatherings
(weekend gatherings, Christmas Eve, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, etc.)
• Collaborate with Guest Services to communicate and maintain clear pathways to disciple-making for every
age and stage of life.
• Create and publish email newsletters through MailChimp.
• Manage digital signage for weekend gatherings and events.
• Create and manage a weekly social media content calendar. Source, prepare content, and post to The
Grove’s channels (Facebook & Instagram) on a defined schedule. Monitor all channels to create an aware,
responsive presence, fostering positive interactions with followers.
• Coordinate with church staff and ministry leaders on content updates for the explorethegrove.org website and
app on Subsplash. Content includes text, photos, graphics, and video assets.
• Collaborate with ministry leaders and operations team to implement effective way finding strategies.
• Attend all required events and activities for The Grove (all staff meetings, prayer meetings, special events,
etc.)

Job Description

DISTRIBUTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES Administrative/Design Planning & Execution: Allocate 50% of time (22 Hours) to regular communications content planning and execution, coordinating communications requests from ministry leaders, and shoring up ministry leader’s communications needs per The Grove Brand guidelines and strategic feedback. Weekend Gathering Leadership: Allocate 12.5% of time (5 Hours) to lead and oversee the accuracy of gathering communication strategies, and weekend communications team members (announcements, call to worship, environmental installations, photographers, videographers, etc.) Volunteer Development: Allocate 5% of time (2 Hours) building healthy relationships and cultivating creative strategies with current and potential volunteers and leaders. Meetings & Collaborative Planning: Allocate 15% (6 hours) to regularly scheduled meetings (staff meeting, directors meeting, supervisor 1:1, creative meeting, etc.) and meetings as needed for ministry-specific communication strategy development. Project Management: Allocate 12.5% of time (5 Hours) to non-reoccurring projects that require volunteer teams, contractors, or in-house execution (i.e. interior design/decor, Christmas Eve, Easter, celebrations, way finding changes, rebranding, information updates, communication strategies for all-church change management, etc.) STAFFVALUES • Think with the mind of Christ, then act • Pray continuously • Equip the church for the work of the ministry • Work ourselves out of a job • Innovate with wisdom and courage • Strive for excellence and over-communicate • Shepherd with a holy discontentment
