Objectives Of This Role

The CM shall see communications as a means for assisting the congregation in fulfilling God's plan as it continues to expand and minister in Princeton and its surrounding communities. The CM will create, organize, plan, and implement effective communication strategies, both to the church's congregation and to the local unchurched population, that serve in accomplishing the mission of Stone Hill Church. The CM shall accomplish these objectives collaboratively with staff and volunteer teams.

The Communications Manager (CM) assists the leadership of the church in executing the strategic communications plan for all ministry events and initiatives to increase awareness of and involvement in Stone Hill Church. This includes communications within the church body and Stone Hill Learning Center, and communications aimed at reaching the unchurched populations in Princeton and its surrounding communities. Responsibilities span the scope of print and digital design, website management, social media, writing and editing, video production, marketing, and brainstorming strategic communications plans.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Propose and implement communication and marketing strategies to achieve organizational goals and objectives. This includes collaboration with the organization's elder board, senior pastor and/or executive team, the Stone Hill Learning Center as well as other cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure the communications ministry remains on time, within budget, and on target with the church's mission and vision by developing, executing, and reporting on yearly objectives, monthly key results, and initiatives. Provide reporting to internal teams and adjust communication plans based on church body engagement.
  • Cultivate, lead, and manage a team of communications ministry contractors, vendors, and volunteers (writers, editors, photographers/videographers, designers, creative collaborators, etc.). Develop lay leadership and volunteer teams in the area of communications.
  • Learn, follow, and champion all organizational brand usage guidelines.
  • Manage and review content for the public-facing websites (church and Learning Center), and update with fresh content on a regular basis.
  • Manage workflow, schedule, and content of multiple communications channels on a defined schedule. Develop a system to monitor all channels to create an aware, responsive presence, fostering positive interactions with followers.
  • Create and publish email newsletters through our email campaigns system.
  • Manage signage and communication materials for weekend gatherings and events.
  • Develop and manage a volunteer team to monitor the church's online platforms during the virtual services.
  • Grow and maintain a stock of photos and videos (landscape and portrait) of our current church body, including the recording of special event content.
  • Project Manage the aesthetic experience from the street to the seat for church-wide events and gatherings.
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteer teams to manage the audio/visual components of all services, including weekend gatherings and other special events.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, social/digital communications or related field preferred. Comparable education and experience will be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a Communications-related role.
  • Requires demonstrated experience with print and digital publishing, social media platforms, and developing presentations using various software.
  • Experience with mass communication systems (e.g. WordPress, Mailchimp, etc), Adobe Creative Cloud suite, productivity suites such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, basic office software, and the ability to quickly grasp new digital tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • An exceptional communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral, written, and persuasive skills. Excellent writing and grammar skills, written and verbal are required (a writing sample may be requested). Requires a high level of personal and professional integrity and accountability. Superior judgment, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong analytical skills for tracking, measuring, and reporting and adept in interpreting a strategic vision into an operation model.
  • Ability to interact with tact and friendly professionalism. Ability to accept direction and feedback and adapt to change.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of organization; ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and volunteers.

Reporting

The CM reports to the Executive Director. The CM, like all other staff, is ultimately accountable to the Board of Elders. The Board of Elders may change reporting relationships at its discretion.

Working Conditions | Schedule

This position is a full-time, exempt salaried position.
