Job Description:
The Community and Ministry Pastor helps to fulfill the mission of SMR by providing oversight to community groups and leaders, providing oversight to local missional efforts lead by SMR members and partners, overseeing corporate prayer efforts, providing support to elder and deacon tracks, developing and executing growth tracks and overseeing the new member processes in collaboration with SMR Elders.
Note: This role will start as a Director position, which is intended to transition to a pastoral role within 6-12 months after successful completion of an "Elder Track," the unanimous recommendation of the Elder team and affirmation by the congregation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee "community" at SMR (GCMs and DGs) by casting vision, providing regular direction, creating and curating content, identifying and training new and existing leaders, providing leader support and sustaining a multiplication strategy
- Develop Discipleship Growth Tracks for unbelievers, new believers and seasoned believers to be discipled and to grow in their love and knowledge of God
- Oversee SMR missional efforts, which may include providing support to SMR missional leads and maintaining strong relationships with external partners
- Organize and execute regular corporate prayer gatherings (4-6x per year)
- Provide Elder team team support for SMR's shepherding plan
- Provide support and oversight to ancillary ministry events such as mens/womens gatherings, worship nights, etc.
- In close collaboration with the Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor, organize and help to execute Elder Track and Deacon Track as needed
- In close collaboration with the Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor, oversee SMR's membership process by giving on-going vision to its content, presentation and organization, utilizing logistical support from the Ministry Coordinator and Office Manager, and involving staff and lay pastors to lead classes and to participate in prospective member interviews
- Provide oversight to Special Services and Events lead
- Assist with special projects as needed
- Participate in the Elder Track
- Note: Once the role shifts to a pastoral role, additional responsibilities will include shepherding, performing various pastoral duties (baptisms, weddings, etc.), and joining the Elders in general church oversight. and governance.

Education & Experience:
- Seminary degree preferred
- 3+ years of pastoral ministry experience preferred.
- 3+ years of small/community group leadership experience required.
- Experience serving in a multi-ethnic congregation.
