Community Pastor

Job Overview

The Community Pastor carries the primary role of engaging the body in meaningful community and shepherding. His primary function is to recruit and oversee the ministries in the body that work toward spiritual connection and growth in the congregation. He is response for pursuing and engaging all members and regular attenders in the practices of community available through the ministries of the church.

Job Description

The responsibilities of this position fall in three primary categories.

  1. Shepherding through groups
    • Recruiting and training leaders for missional community groups within WPCC.
    • Focus efforts within the congregation for building community and deepening connections.
    • Work with overseers within ministries to achieve equivalent shepherding experiences in the various adult community ministries (MCG’s, Women’s Ministry & Men’s Ministry)
    • Work closely with Equipping Pastor to ensure good training materials for new leaders exists
  2. Overseeing Church Ministries
    • Directly oversee ministry directors for:
      • Community Groups Coordinator
      • Men’s Ministry Coordinator
      • Women’s Ministry Coordinator
      • Connections Coordinator
    • Create and cast vision, giving overall direction for ministries
    • Ensure the alignment of goals/objectives of the church with those ministries
    • Help ministry leaders create and maintain an annual budget
    • Align ministries to accomplish the work of disciplemaking
  3. Working as a member of the pastoral/elder team
    • Working with vocational pastors to plan and execute Sunday worship services
    • Preach as a member of the preaching team
    • Work with pastor/elder team to create church vision
    • Disciple future leaders within the church
